My puppy is crated when I leave and has a partially fenced in backyard to play in. We always walk out with him or watch from the back door when he goes out, as he is growing larger than a small portion of our fence. We take frequent walks to the park across the street where we throw his ball or frisbee. We take his collar off when he is unsupervised (when he goes in the crate). As for other pups, I follow whatever routine the dog is used to!
