Pet care experience

Hi, I’m Janene, and I am so excited to take care of your pet! I became a pet sitter because I am passionate about animals. My pet care experience goes back to when I was in diapers! I’ve always had at least one dog, (or two, or ten!) and I’ve had cats since I was ten years old. On top of my forever pets, I’ve fostered countless dogs, cats, and even birds. I’ve rescued and fostered dogs of all ability levels, including elderly, sick, physically disabled, or blind dogs, and dogs with anxiety disorders. I’ve even helped birth, raise and train a litter of eight puppies. I’ve also raised and trained two smaller litters of kittens, one with and one without help from a mama. Like I said, animals are my passion. My professional experience with animals includes a holiday season working at a pet store, learning all about pet health and nutrition. I’ve been a dog walker and pet sitter for a year now, independently, with Wag!, and now with Rover. I have been background checked and vetted by Rover, and you can read my reviews and see what my clients think of me! Outside of my time pet sitting and dog walking, I am a college student who loves to read and write. I hang out with friends, go to Disneyland, or stay in and watch TV in my free time. I’m very active and love taking long walks and jogs. If you have an active pup, I’d love to take them out with me, since my dogs are getting older and aren’t up for 2+ mile walks. My pet care preferences are broad. I accept dogs and cats of any size three months or older. I know many houses have more than one type of pet in the home, so I also accept rodents, guinea pigs and hamsters, bunnies, birds, reptiles, and of course, fish. With a few exceptions, the dogs and cats under my care must be fixed, with a collar and tag, and preferably chipped as well. I know many dogs are shy, or defensive, and I respect that, but any dogs that are outright aggressive are out of my skill set. When pet sitting in your home, I will try to keep the pets routine as close to as when you are home, so I will need to know their routine, commands, and reward and discipline methods.. I will take dogs, and trained cats, for daily walks, administer medicine as needed, and give them lots of attention. I can stay in your home or only be in the home during days, spending the night at my home. I am happy to work on training with learning pets, including house training and leash training. When walking your dogs I will keep them on side streets except when necessary. I won’t let them interact with other animals for safety. I don’t listen to music while walking them to keep my senses alert. I usually do about a mile every 30 minutes, although different dogs walk at different speeds. And of course, I am flexible. My rates have been raised due to the coronavirus pandemic. Until treatment and vaccines are widely available I will not be meeting any human clients in person, and my rates are fixed. If you have any questions for me, or if you are ready to book with me, give me a text or a call!

This was my first time using Rover as my usual dog sitter had moved away. I have a difficult time navigating new systems for the first time, but Olivia walked me through the whole process in a professional and friendly way. Her attention to walking me through the process was so kind that I felt confident leaving my BeeBear with her for the evening. Thanks to Olivia, I will be an ongoing Rover user. She provided updates when she first got to my home, and let me know that my girl had settled in with her. She took care of throwing sheets into the washer and the house looked great upon my arrival. BeeBear was happy and well cared for. I will definitely use Olivia as a pet sitter again. Her kindness and attention to details were wonderfully reassuring. I recommend her to all my friends.

Olivia was fantastic. She was easy to book with and explained specifically how she would care for our two cats while gone. She provided daily updates with pictures and took extra care and concern with our cats who experienced severe anxiety while gone. She is patient, dependable, kind and loves animals. Thank you so much for the care and attention you showed Batman and Queenie!

Information Olivia Janene F. would like to know about your pet

There are a few things I need to know before I watch your pet. My first questions are about the pets health, training, and temperament. I’ll need to know if your dog or cat is fixed, as I only watch fixed pets with a few exceptions. I’ll need to know about any health problems or special care needed in advance of accepting the booking. For cats I need to know if they are indoor, outdoor, or come and go. I like to know what training the pets I watch have, and prefer to have a list of commands, rewards, and reprimands they are used to. Are your pets friendly? Do they like other pets? Does your dog (or cat, you never know) walk well on a leash? Are they food aggressive, or play aggressive? Is there anything you think I need to know? It’s important for us both to be clear on what each others expectations for the stay are, and make sure we are on the same page. And most importantly, I’ll need a vet number and an emergency contact number of someone other than you who will be in the area, in case I can’t get a hold of you.

A typical day

When I sit with your animals, I let them dictate the nature of the relationship. If they want to be best buds, we’ll be best buds right away. If they are a little more reserved, we take things slow. While staying with me, my four legged or feathered clients and I will try to stay as close to your schedule as possible, so I’ll need to know what their daily routine is. Long term stay dogs will get at least one walk daily, as I am very active. Walks last as long as the dog wants, unless I have any human time constraints. I only walk on residential streets, unless it becomes absolutely necessary for me to walk along busier roads. I carry a dog walkers bag with spare leash and collar, water and water dish, and treats. I never let my dogs meet with strange dogs, and always avoid other walkers. I’m pretty good when it comes to playing fetch or tug-o-war, and I have it on very good authority that my tummy rubs are top notch. While in your home, I will either be playing with your pup, or working on school work or watching Netflix while snuggling your pup. Long term stay cats will get similar treatment, with lots of snuggles and playing. Other animals’ care depends on the individual animal and owner. When it comes to overnight stays there are two options. I can sleep in your home, and be with the pet except during school, work, or other obligations. For a sleepover I will need bedding, kitchen access, and the WI-FI password. If your pets are comfortable being alone for longer periods of time, or you don’t want me spending the night, I can sleep in my own home, and spend my time during the day outside of school, work, and other obligations with your pet. This will include a couple hour long morning visit, and a few hours in the evening at minimum, but will most likely see me with your pets for most of the day. I’ll only do sleepovers for stays of a week or less. My daytime stays are somewhat negotiable in price, done during our face to face meeting, and can last anywhere from one day to one month. For one time or recurring walks and drop ins, I will spend 100% of my time with your pet, playing, walking, feeding, and loving them. I do drop ins and walks for 30-60 minutes up to three times per day, schedule allowing. One time walks and drop ins can only be scheduled two weeks in advance, or whenever I get my work schedule for the week. Recurring walks or drop ins are not guaranteed to be at the same time every week.
