When considering whether you need a drop-in visit or housesitter, consider whether you need the security of someone making the space look loved in while you are gone or an extra service like plant watering. This arrangement requires the sitter to rearrange their schedule a great deal and is more time consuming. Therefore, it is more expensive. An affordable alternative is pet visits. In the last four years, I have been doing a combination of housesitting, dog walking, and pet sitting for friends and Rover. The largest number of animals that I cared for during a housesitting gig was 3 cats, 2 rabbits, and filling a half dozen outdoor bird feeders. One of the senior cats needed medication, and I have given medication to other cats over the years. I had one cat that needed an inhaler. And I have had numerous cat and dog "housemates" over the years. I work part-time. In order for me to spend enough time with your pet and give your pet the attention it deserves, I only accept gigs that are close by. I only accept assignments in Columbia City, Beacon Hill, First Hill, Capital Hill, and Hillman. With dogs that tend to leap out at traffic, I hold the leash with two hands in two places. This allows small to medium dogs a relaxed walk with some freedom, but extra safety.
