Just a college gal who loves dogs!
Pet care experience
Hi there! Nice to meet ya. I am 20 years old and have lived with and loved dogs all my life. I’m currently on summer break, and have limited availability. Thank you for taking the time to look over my profile and I hope to see you soon! Our dog was an SPCA rescue that we cared for for almost 15 years. I took most of the responsibility for him, giving him his arthritis medication twice a day, and since he was a picky eater, enticing him with healthy and delicious treats. During college, I volunteered at the local pet shelter and the local veterinary clinic (around 3-4 hours each per week). I assembled spay/neuter kits, cleaned kennels, washed dishes, walked sick dogs, and comforted new arrivals. I’m well acquainted with cleaning up after a dog. I know through experience that no dog is “bad”— they are just scared and anxious. I have techniques to help an anxious animal calm down. I love being outside! If you are okay with it, I would savor the opportunity to go above and beyond for your lovely pet by showing them around my favorite places to walk: Carmel beach, Skyline forest, Fort Ord, etc. My dog was very active (German shepherd-Australian Cattle mix) but grew rather lethargic in his old age, so I am good at engaging dogs with a variety of energy levels and have appropriate walking routes for them. I know firsthand what it's like to love a dog, and cultivating a safe but joyful environment for animals is what fulfills me. I hope to see you and your bff soon!
Reviews
Nora was wonderful with Koda. He is large and can be anxious. She was so patient with him and treated him like family. He got to visit many dog friendly spots and had lots of play and water time in her backyard. She was great sending me photos and updates. We’d book her again for our next trip if only she was available.
We found Nora last second when making a spontaneous weekend trip to Monterey/Carmel, and I instantly felt comfortable leaving her with my dogs. She was more than accommodating and always replied back very fast. She even sent pictures and text updates of how our dogs were doing which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend Nora to anyone!! Best Rover we have ever had!
Nora was so amazing with Sadie again. We appreciated her love and caring for Sadie!
Nora took great care of our Khloe We will definitely have her again

Safety, trust & environment
I have a large, fenced yard with plenty of sun, shade, and grass. There is lots of space to run and lounge. Our house has stairs but if your dog can’t manage them we will do what we did with our senior dog— take them around the driveway ramp.

Information Nora B. would like to know about your pet
I would like to know their temperament, i.e. timid, aggressive, stable, confident, etc. I will not turn down a dog due to any temperament, it will just help me to understand them. It would also be helpful to know what motivates them (treats, affection, other dogs) so I can know the best way to reward good behavior. Additionally, I would like to know what rules you have for your pet so I can provide consistent care. Do you allow your dog on the furniture, bed? Does your dog need to sit before being let inside/outside? Do you have a routine for the morning, do you allow your dog to jump on you? I would hate to undo your careful training!
A typical day
I would allow them to get accustomed to their surroundings. For anxious dogs, this is very important. I want to make sure your dog feels safe in their new environment. I would let them walk around the house and then take them to the backyard, where I’d build trust with treats and play. If appropriate, I would love to take your dog hiking to bond a little bit, or to the beach, where they can socialize with other dogs. If the dog has poor recall, I would not be inclined to let them off the leash in an open environment, but I have myriad other activities like forest-walking or block-walking to entice! I know one of the most important things for a dog is for it to explore the world through its nose, so I will accommodate that need to the owner's or pet's comfort level.

Availability
I am on summer break from college. I start an on-site internship June 8th, and so am unfortunately unable to pet-sit past that point. For the next two weeks, I can walk, board, and love on your dog with undivided attention. Rest assured they will get lots of pampering and walks!
