I'm an NYC-native who has cared and loved her own adopted dog for 13+ years in the city. Unfortunately, she requires more care than I can give her in her old age and lives at home with my parents now. So, I'm actively looking to dog sit! :) I live in a very dog-friendly, doorman/elevator building in Gramercy. Great access to parks, and the east side river for walks. My apartment has a large living room area and kitchen where a dog pen could easily be situated. I work for a start-up so my hours are super flexible, I can often work from home which would allow me to give any dog a ton of care and lots of walks!
