2.5 acres for your dog(s) to enjoy!
Pet care experience
Hello puppy parents! My name is Nikki. I live with my husband Bryan in a house on 2.5 acres in Verona. We are huge dog lovers - yours will be spoiled and won't want to leave! Lurch, our 6.5 year old Great Dane, loves to play with every dog he meets, but if your dog is one that needs space, he is quick to learn. We also have Wednesday, another Great Dane who is 3 months old at the time of writing. She adores other dogs! You always receive photos with updates sent through Rover. I require a meet and greet with all new dogs. I will invite you to my home so you can meet us, see our property, and ensure that our dogs get along well. Please keep in mind that I may have several other dogs here during your dog's stay, and I prefer to care for dogs that will get along well with dogs of all sizes and energy levels. I also require a one night trial stay for any booking longer than two days. This ensures that we'll have a great stay while you're out of town! I have experience with anxious/shy dogs, and usually by the end of their stay, they will be my best friend! I have experience in administering eye and ear drops, as well as oral medication and subcutaneous fluids. I keep Musher's Secret and a basic first aid kit on hand if needed.
Reviews
Nikki was wonderful with our rescue sharpei, Jimmy! We were so nervous to experiment with leaving him with someone else as he has bad anxiety. She did her best to make him comfortable and kept him active while we were gone. She is very experienced and would recommend her to anyone!
Pearl always love staying at Nikki's. She gets lots of love and really enjoys playing with the other dogs.

The property is surrounded by woods, a creek, and hills, with a defined property line. It is not currently fenced, but we do have a tie-out and a run if your dog is a little adventurous. For the adventurous ones, I will also take them for walks through the yard on a leash, so they'll get plenty of exercise and be able to explore the yard safely. Your dog will always be supervised while outside. We do have a pond on the property, but we do not allow the dogs in it. If your dog loves water, the creek is a great spot for them to go for a dip and cool off on hot summer days!

Information Nikki P. would like to know about your pet
Before our meet and greet, I'd like to have a general idea of your dog's personality, preferences, energy level, and habits. Do they ever show any signs of aggression toward humans or dogs? I need to know that their vaccinations are up-to-date and you must have them on a flea & tick preventative in order to book with me. The following information can be provided during our meet and greet: I would like to know if they have any allergies to ingredients in dog food/treats, soaps/shampoos, detergents, or even grass/pollen. Do they take any medications or supplements? Do they have separation anxiety, and if so, what typically helps them relax? I would also like to know if they tend to guard toys, treats, bones, or food. If you are in the process of training your dog, let me know and I will help him or her retain and improve whatever it is you're teaching them. I am not at all picky about breed, I have cared for many types of dogs with all kinds of personalities! If you decide we are a good fit for your dog, please provide an emergency contact and veterinary information.
A typical day
I take the dogs out for a lengthy playtime, weather permitting, multiple times per day, usually in the morning and several times in the afternoon/evening. Your dog will be included in our schedule unless he or she has specific exercise needs, in which case I will accommodate. I have lots of toys and bones for your dog to enjoy during his or her stay, including frisbees, balls, tug toys, and stuffed animals. Your dog is more than welcome to join us in our bed, but we can accommodate if your dog has a preferred sleeping arrangement, such as his/her own bed or kennel. We also have several extra beds and blankets if you are unable to provide one. This has become my full-time job and I spend the majority of my time at home caring for the dogs. Occasionally I will need to leave for doctor or vet appointments, but your dog will never be left alone for more than 3-4 hours at a time. If your dog cannot be left alone at all, I can make sure that I am here for them.

Availability
I am typically home all day, so your pup will usually be cared for 24/7! I let everyone outside to potty first thing in the morning, every couple of hours or so throughout the day, and right before bed, but I understand that some dogs have small bladders or health issues that can cause them to go more frequently, and I am able to accommodate. I feed each dog separately to ensure everyone gets to eat their own meals and to protect them from food guarding. Mealtimes are typically around 8 AM and 6 PM, but if your dog has a specific schedule, I am happy to keep them on it.
