PAWsome Care When You're Not There

Pet care experience

↓↓↓PLEASE read my entire profile before contacting me. I don't accept certain dog breeds.↓↓↓ ††First time Rover client? Ask me about my $20 off promo code!†† If you’re checking out this profile, then you’ve come to the right place. Your pooch will feel right at home in “La Casa de Campbell.” My husband, Tom, and I like to consider our home a “Four Paw Resort.” Here your pooch is treated like the VIP they truly are. We like to think of ourselves as the ultimate vacation spot for your furbaby as well as their home away from home. When your furbaby stays with us, they will enjoy: • 24/7 care (My husband & I work from home) • FREE snacks (Ex: milk bones, bacon chews, etc - if allowed) • Frequent rubs • Fresh, cool water to drink daily • Fun toys to play/chew on • A big, comfy doggy bed to sleep/relax on (We also provide clean blankets) • Constant supervision (If Tom & I both briefly have to step out, we have security cameras in and outside the house. We can check on your pet from our smartphones. In fact, we do it with our own dog) • A spacious yard with fence to safely roam and enjoy beautiful views of the pond and surrounding nature. ---------------------------------- WHAT YOU GET ---------------------------------- • Peace of mind knowing that your pooch is in good hands (We are a fully insured business through Pet Sitters Associates LLC) • A sitter who's been educated on pet first aid/CPR through the American Red Cross • Flexibility (Plane delayed? Trip extended? Traffic delay? Emergency? I can adapt to your schedule) • Regular photos/videos of your pooch enjoying his/her STAYCATION at La Casa de Campbell • Rapid Response (Have a question? Need to reach me while your pet is in my care? My phone is ALWAYS on me) ---------------------------------- EXPERIENCE THAT COUNTS ---------------------------------- My husband and I know a thing or two about taking care of pets, too. Until March 9, 2018, we believe we owned the oldest dog in the Lowcountry, possibly even the state of South Carolina. He was a 20-year-old Dalmatian named Scootie. He was given top-notch care until the very end. We presently own an adorable rescue dog named Bandit (half Chihuahua/half Miniature Pincher). Bandit thinks he's human. He sleeps on his back, prefers people food and loves to wear clothes. In early 2017, he was voted "Lowcountry's Cutest Pet" by the Post & Courier, so he's a celebrity of sorts, and he knows it! In late September 2018, we began fostering an older Dalmatian named Sarge. He is a rescue dog. I grew up on a farm in the sticks of Berkeley County. So from cows to pigs to chickens, I've had a variety of pets over the years. Tom isn't as much a country bumpkin as I am. He had the usual pets growing up--dogs and even a cat named "Boo Boo Kitty." (Seriously, that was the cat's name.) ---------------------------------- CONSTANT SUPERVISION ---------------------------------- Because Tom and I are both self-employed, we spend the majority of our time working from home. Sixty percent of the time, your dog will have two "critter sitters" carefully looking after them. The other 30 percent of the time, myself, or Tom, will keep a close eye on your pooch. The remaining 10 percent of the time when Tom and I both have to briefly step out, we'll check on them from our smartphones. We have surveillance cameras in and outside of our home. We are high tech like that :-) ---------------------------------- UNDIVIDED ATTENTION ---------------------------------- We are way better than a kennel because we limit our pet intake and dogs are never crated when humans are around (unless the dog's owner requests it). SEE BELOW FOR MORE DETAILS. We believe that your dog deserves lots of 1-on-1 time. Limiting our dog intake for the most part also allows us to give your dog the best experience possible. We generally board no more than *3 dogs at a time and leave 2 spots available for daycare. Depending on when you book, your pup could very well be the only one in our care. *PLEASE BE AWARE: On rare occasions, but particularly around a holiday, we may exceed our limit due to a client who may need to extend the stay of their pet or a regular client who needs a last minute sitter. Our house will never be a "zoo," but if this is an issue for you, we wish you the best of luck in your sitter search. I can assure you, however, other sitters face similar situations at times. For the sake of transparency, we are upfront about it. 90% of the time, we stay within our limit or less. ---------------------------------- OUR HOME ---------------------------------- My husband and I live on 13 acres, which is located approximately 5 minutes from Macedonia Middle School. The property backs up to the Francis Marion National Forest. On the property is a 1-acre pond and we have our own winding, private driveway. Our house is a very large, modern/contemporary home, so your pooch will have plenty of room to roam around. We have a large fence on the back of our home to let the dogs safely enjoy the outdoors. This is the ultimate peaceful, country living with complete privacy. ---------------------------------- OUR BACKGROUNDS ---------------------------------- Before our 2016 New Year's Eve wedding, Tom and I used to work together for several years at a local TV station in the Charleston area. My background is in journalism and his is in IT and engineering. Tom also has his own IT company. He left the TV station in 2016 to focus on his company full-time. I have my own PR company as well as manage a popular Lowcountry news site. Tom and I are both very active in our communities, too. He is a longtime member of The Exchange Club of Charleston. I'm a wish granter for Make-A-Wish, a member of the National Daughters of the American Revolution and National Daughters of the War of 1812. I'm a former reserve deputy sheriff for a nearby county.

Prior to our dogs stay, Nikki was very informative and helpful on what to bring, what to provide and what to expect. She made the process very easy. During our dogs stay, she sent us pics and kept us informed about how they were doing. She was great throughout. We have already booked another stay for our dogs.

I have a large fence to let your pups safely enjoy the outside; - that's the closest they'll get to nature. Dogs in my care are always fed separately. Extra care is given when introducing dogs for the first time to other pups under my watch. Just like people, dogs can behave differently when in a new environment and when around other dogs. I also don't except every breed of dog. Please read my profile to see which ones that I don't except.

Information Nikki G. would like to know about your pet

HEADS UP: If you are interested in your pooch staying with us, we will send you a short questionnaire via Rover to fill out regarding your pup. Yes, we are thorough and meticulous, as any good sitter should be. But trust us, it's for your pet's benefit and for the other pups in our care. This must be completed prior to any potential M&Gs. Some of the questions will include: • Does your dog have any destructive tendencies? (Ex: digging holes in backyards, chewing on furniture, etc) • Has your dog been known to bite people or other animals? • Has your dog been sick in the last 3 months? If so, please explain. • Does your dog mark? • How is your dog around other dogs? ---------------------- MANDATORY ---------------------- We take the care of your pet seriously. And just like our clients, we are selective when it comes to accepting new pets. Meet-N-Greets are preferred, but we know that this may not always be possible--especially for out-of-towners visiting the Lowcountry. That's why even prior to M&G's, we do our best to vet potential clients through a series of questions once they express interest in our pet care services. Here are our rules: • Your dog must be non-aggressive (NO MEANIES/BULLIES/BITERS, PLEASE) • Your dog should be on a flea treatment and MUST BE CURRENT ON ALL SHOTS. (PROOF OF VACCINATION RECORDS REQUIRED) • Your dog must be NON-DESTRUCTIVE • Your dog must be POTTY TRAINED (However, we get accidents may happen on occasion) • Your dog must not be an excessive barker (it can upset our other guests) • No excessive, high-energy dogs/pups, please. (that, too, can upset our other guests) • While not mandatory, it's highly advised that your dog wear a collar with proper ID even if he/she is chipped. Rover.com highly recommends it. No matter which Rover sitter you choose, accidents can happen. While chips are great, most neighbors/strangers don't have pet scanners. If your pup were to ever pull a "Houdini," it's those neighbors/strangers who are likely to find your pup first when time is of the essence. (SIDE NOTE: Nope, we've never lost a pet! Whoop! Whoop!) • To maintain a clean, sanitary home, dogs observed marking inside our home (fixed or unfixed) will be required to wear a belly band during the course of their stay while indoors. One will be provided to them at no cost to the pet owner. It's similar to a diaper, but it wraps around the dog's waist. It's not at all uncomfortable or harmful to the dog. We keep different sizes in stock. We prefer not to use them, but will if necessary. • In rare circumstances, any dogs in our care observed behaving aggressively toward other four-legged guests will be separated from the rest of the pack to ensure everyone's safety. • In order to maintain a damaged-free home & ensure the safety of the pet in our care, any dog caught displaying destructive tendencies (Ex: Chewing, clawing, ripping valuables/furniture within the home) will be crated while we sleep at night and during those brief moments that I or my husband may step out of the house. We have an extra large crate that we prefer not to use at all, but will if necessary. • In order to maintain a sanitary and clean home, dogs in our care caught on more than one occasion urinating or defecating on the floor during normal bedtime hours will be crated overnight to keep the "bodily mishaps" confined. ---------------------------------------------------- WE DO NOT ACCEPT THE FOLLOWING BREEDS ---------------------------------------------------- • Rottweiler • Bullmastiff • Pitbull (or American Staffordshire Terrier/Staffordshire Bull Terrier) • German Shepherd • Doberman Pincher • Chow Chow • Akita • Wolf Hybrid • Siberian Husky • Alaskan Malamute • Labrador Retrievers under 2 years of age. ---------------------------------- RATES ARE NONNEGOTIABLE ---------------------------------- At boarding facilities in the Goose Creek & surrounding area, the average cost to kennel a single dog is $30. This is usually just for the cage. Additional fees generally apply for playtime, treats and walks, and, yes, even photos/updates. I’m proud to offer a competitive yet affordable alternative to kenneling. As such, my rates are firm. My service is for pet owners who don't want their dog kenneled and who want their pup to be able to enjoy a nice home-away-from-home. When your pup stays at La Casa de Campbell, I'm giving your dog individual attention - frequent rubs, treats and walks and playtime. If I have 2 or 3 dogs, I'm giving two to three times the attention (which I don’t mind, of course!). But at the end of the day, my rate is commensurate with the service. ------------------------- PLEASE BE AWARE ------------------------- Because holidays are very busy, per Rover, holiday rates apply to the following dates in 2024: Martin Luther King Day, Jan 12 - 15 Presidents' Day, Feb 16 - 19 Memorial Day, May 24 - 27 4th of July, July 4 - 7 Labor Day, Aug 30 - Sept 2 Thanksgiving, Nov 28 - Dec 1 Christmas and New Year's Day, Dec 21 - Jan 1 As per Rover, if a booking includes any dates within the holiday period, the holiday rate will be applied to the entire booking.

A typical day

When your pooch stays with us, they will enjoy: • lots of play time in our spacious backyard. • lots of lounging around the house. They have free range of our living room, kitchen, bedroom, office and garage. • an unlimited supply of yummy treats. (They're on vacation. They deserve it! However, for pups with sensitive or special dietary needs we obviously refrain from snacks) *We never transport pets in our car unless the client requests pickup/drop off services. All pets remain at our home during the course of their stay.
