Pet care experience
As an only child and in response to pleas for siblings, my mom decided to give me three dogs (and two cats) instead of a brother or sister... Since growing up with pets around the house, I have been a pet owner/adorer throughout my life. I have provided services through Rover since 2019 and genuinely enjoy giving care and companionship for different animals in the area. Throughout my “Rover-career”, I have had the opportunity to house sit for dogs and cats, do drop in visits, go on dog walks and runs, and board dogs in home. Giving love to animals is an active part of my life — I currently volunteer at the Humane Rescue Alliance and help find unwanted dogs loving homes through training and education. My roommate has the sweetest beagle-lab mix, Kala, and we enjoy hanging/cuddling with her on the couch while watching movies. I am easy to communicate with, reliable & compassionate, and would love to get in touch!

We feel so lucky we found Nikia! We booked her to take care of our beloved 45lbs rescue mutt while we were traveling internationally for 8 days. Our dog has some anxiety issues and is reactive to other dogs, so we are usually a little nervous leaving her with a new sitter. Not with Nikia! She read all of our (extensive, detailed) instructions, asked us good questions, and then did a wonderful job updating us on how our dog was doing while we were gone. It made it so much easier to enjoy our vacation knowing our pup was so well cared for! She is communicative, responsible, and respectful. Also I think we came home to a cleaner house than we left for her. We can't say enough good things about her and look forward to booking her for many more trips to come :)
Nikia was amazing. Great communication and super accommodating. My girl Lily even got tons of exercise!
Nikia took excellent care of my cat while I was away. She made the process really easy, provided daily updates and even helped clean after the cat had an accident. Already planning on booking her again if she’s available :)

Building a sense of trust between the pet, pet owner, and myself is crucial — I value transparency and make sure to send photo updates, messages, and make calls when requested. I value the way that pet owners want me to interact with their pet - I am a dutiful rule follower :) and will accommodate based on the pets needs and routines. I live in an apartment building, with a door that opens to a hallway. Our apartment is already dog-proof and I continue to ensure that the apartment is protected when boarding a new friend. Kala, is an easy going pup who is very friendly with other dogs — if there is a request to board in house, I am happy to do a meet and greet with Kala and potential pups that will stay in the home.

Please let me know if there are any medical concerns that I should be aware of. A meet and greet between me, the animal, and the pet owner has been the most successful for me in the past where we can discuss further about routines, concerns, and how the animal interacts with other animals.
A typical day
Trails, parks, dog parks... wherever the dog owner prefers and where the animal feels most comfortable is what is most important to me! Seattle raised- I am always prepared to go out and play in the rain.

Availability
I am employed full time and work remotely 4 out of the 5 work days. During my remote days and weekends, I have plenty of time to care for pups/cats, do a drop in visit or go on a walk!
