School Counselor/Pet Lover
Pet care experience
Hi! My name is Nicole. I'm 32 years old and I'm a School Counselor. I have a Bachelor's degree in criminal justice & psychology, a Master's degree in educational psychology, a Master's degree in school counseling, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in school counseling. I love spending time outdoors, going on walks/runs/hikes, spending time with my friends and family, reading, listening to music, and going to concerts. I love all pets and have always enjoying spending time with fluffy friends. I believe pets bring a special kind of happiness to our lives and I'm just looking to return the favor. I'm a great candidate for pet sitting because I love pets and have had experience caring for them almost my whole life. I believe all animals deserve to be treated with love, care, and kindness, and I am ready to make your pet feel comfortable and safe while you're away. I've never met a pet I didn't like; I think all pets, like people, offer something different to the world and I love finding out what that is. I can't wait to get to know you and your pet/s!
Reviews
Nicole is a wonderful friend to my pug. She loves dogs and loves to cuddle with them. She is attentive to their needs and makes sure the water is fresh and the walks are fun Nicole is dependable, neat, reliable in your home. My house always looks better when I come home!
Nicole stayed with our dog, Linzie, age 11, for 18 days while we were away. Linzie needs medicine twice a day (which she does not like taking), and she does not like to sleep in a room alone. When Nicole texted me a photo of Linzie on her rather large futon mattress that had been moved to the foot of Nicole’s bed, I knew that Linzie was in caring hands! Linzie was happy and healthy upon our return.
Nicole has taken care of my cat and dog on numerous occasions, and has stayed both in my home or visited multiple times per day to feed/walk as needed. She is trustworthy, friendly, and very responsible. My 1.5 year old yellow lab is extremely energetic and she manages his sometimes difficult behaviors very well. Nicole clearly loves animals and will take great care of your pet!
As a loving mother of a anxious mini schnauzer and high-maintenance chihuahua I need assistance while I'm away on vacation or at work for a double. Nicole does exceedingly excellent job during the day and night walking, playing, feeding, loving and medicating my chihuahua and mini schnauzer. When I come home to the dogs after Nicole's care, I can tell both have been given the attention they deserve. In addition, Nicole has also offered her time on short notice when I have unexpected events pop up. She is one of the kindest and thoughtful dog sitters in the area that I've come in contact with-without asking she will take it upon herself to bring the babies to the park for a little socializing (with permission of course). I highly recommend her to anyone with one or multiple dogs. Whether the dogs are old, young, large, small, low and/or high maintenance she can really handle it all! Mini schnauzer- 10 years old, on a complicated medication schedule for eyes and kidney stones. She requires lots of attention and love Chihuahua- 10 years old , sassy at times and requires a lot of play time.

I know it's so important for pet owners to be able to trust the people taking care of their pets and that you're putting a lot of faith in someone you don't know well (especially at first) to take care of your pet. These are some different ways I make sure the animals I care for are safe: Taking extra time before leaving to make sure everything is secure, nothing has been left out, and your pet has what they need between the time I leave and the time you come home. Always checking fence gates before letting a pet outside. Always locking the doors (unless instructed otherwise), and making sure I don’t step outside without a key. Always doing one final walkthrough/check by walking through the area the pet will stay in and checking that all trash can lids are locked, no food is on the counters, and any gates or crates set up are secure. Giving myself plenty of time to really focus on my current client and also to ensure I'm not rushing. It's important to me for pet owners to know I will take the best possible care of their pet as if they were my own!
Information Nicole L. would like to know about your pet
Their temperament, activity level, dietary needs/restrictions, and any medical issues they might have. The location and phone number of your vet in case of emergencies. A schedule of when you usually feed/walk/play with your pet or give them any medications. Anything about their specific breed that would be relevant/important for me to know. Keeping me in the loop about any changes to their routine (food, medications, etc.). I always appreciate written instructions so I can refer back to what you've said to make sure I haven't missed anything!
A typical day
I can take dogs on walks, hikes, bike rides, I can take them to play outside in a yard or a park, throw a ball/toy inside or outside, and of course lots of cuddles and pets! I am comfortable with a wide range of activities so if your dog likes to do something that is not listed here, just ask!

Availability
I'm considering the idea of taking a pause on full time work and seeing if animal care could be a good alternative to that. Depending on how it goes, I might transition to it full time.
