I have been surrounded by animals my entire life and learned early on from my grandparents that dogs are extremely loyal, and when trained correctly and treated with patience, they can be your best friend. As an adult, I have been dog sitting for seven years and have to say that it’s my favorite job because it doesn’t feel like a job at all! I have chosen to incorporate pet care into as much of my life as I can—I currently work in an animal clinic where I get to work with a wide variety of different animals and breeds and I’m the proud mama of several rescued pets of my own. I also spend time volunteering in shelters and in my circle of friends and family, I’m known as the dog whisperer, as I’m always giving advice and helpful tips! My clients appreciate the fact that I communicate with them regularly throughout the day with photos and text updates. I do my best to be flexible with their needs and be accommodating to their schedule. My background has given me a wealth of experience and I am comfortable working with senior dogs and can administer oral medication and shots. I’m caring, patient and committed, and I don’t just accept any client on—it is very important to me to make sure I’m the right fit for the owner and the pet, so I will work to understand their needs as clearly as I can. Pets love the fact that I get to know them in their own time. I’ll get down on their level and let them sniff me before offering a treat or playing a game to help them open up. I then work with the owner to understand their needs, likes and dislikes, and we go from there! I work part time on the weekend and my schedule is open and ready for pet-sitting! When I am at work, I make sure someone trusted is around so your pet will never be left alone.
