Animal Sitter Caregiver Nurse
Pet care experience
Hello, I'm Nicole and I'm a lifelong animal lover, supporter, activist, and fundraiser! I am an Emergency Room Registered Nurse and Case Manager. I work in an emergency room and enjoy the hustle and bustle of that environment. With my work week, I am flexible, which allows me plenty of time for my animals and yours! I want to continue pet sitting as a hobby! Throughout my time in school, I worked at Animal Defense League (a nonprofit no-kill animal shelter) as a hospital receptionist and then a development coordinator to help raise awareness for spay-neuter programs and also raise money to help all animals in need. I currently own a total of 5 dogs, 5 cats, squirrel, some chickens, a duck and a partridge in a pear tree (jk). I help the local stray cats get fixed and released. At my home, I have a large fenced-in secured yard with three separate dog runs/doggy doors for potty breaks and safe securement and indoor/outdoor play. My boyfriend and I are a team, when I petsit, we share the responsibility for our pets and yours. I have also watched pigs, chickens, large animals, birds, and have an extensive knowledge of animal care. In college, I also participated in filming a documentary on rescued horses and other barnyard animals. Bottom line, I'm an animal lover and will treat any animal as if they were my own. I'm on-call for questions or concerns and would love to watch your babies for you! I worked in an animal hospital and shelter for three years. I worked directly with animals and helped train and also find forever homes for them. I have also helped with pre-operative care, intubation, wound care, isolated animals, and other complex animal situations. I am comfortable with administering injections, oral, rectal, etc. medications to animals. I am comfortable with giving medication to all animals and giving appropriate care or seeking emergency care. I have helped birth puppies and kittens as well. Why I love dog sitting I have been an animal lover my entire life. The only reason I am not a veterinarian is because I get very attached to all animals and it's hard to deal with the tough decisions that must be made with owners of ill animals. I love all animals and seek to understand them as best as I can. I have worked with dogs, cats, birds, pigs, horses, chinchillas, rabbits, ferrets, hamsters, and turtles. My experience administering medication I am comfortable with administering all types of medications in various routes to all animals.
Reviews
Nicole seemed like the dream when I first found her, between her rave reviews and previous experience at a shelter I thought she would be perfect for my almost feral cat. After happily excepting my request, connecting with her to set up a meet and greet became very difficult. She offered to allow me to find someone else and against my better judgment I gave her grace since she was going through some personal matters. Everything seemed to be working out until 3 days into our stay when I noticed she was not coming on our agreed upon time or staying more that 10 minutes for her drop ins when she was paid for 30 minutes. As the days went on she continued spending less and less time at my home. By the 7th day, she thought it would be acceptable to bring her personal dog into my home without asking or telling me! I thought she understood that I had a very skittish cat that has taken MONTHS to get used to me and my own dog let alone a STRANGE dog coming in with someone who has only spent a couple hours with him. When confronted about it, she justified her behavior by saying she needed to take her dog for shots and didn’t want to leave him in the car. While I am COMPLETELY supportive of not leaving an animal in the car, I am not okay with her thinking the time I paid her for should be used to run personal errands and not in my home with my cat. I made the decision to leave this review in hopes that she won’t treat other families like this. I also choose to report her to rover for this behavior because I didn’t think it was honest. Her response was to threaten, saying we’ve messed with the wrong person! I’m not sure what kind of person treats a customer like this but it’s not someone I will ever trust again! If you don’t mind someone coming for a brief time whenever they can, bringing their own personal animals with them, and then threatening you when you report them for behavior they did, she would be a great fit.
Nicole looked over our cats while we were on vacation. She made sure to feed them and gave them clean water and even sent us photos of our pets while we were away. Nicole was very sweet and accommodating to us and our situation and took good care of our cats!
Nicole provided excellent care for our dogs while we were away. One of our dogs is extremely afraid of thunder and has caused some damage to the house previously while we were away. Nicole and team comforted our Sandy during 2 storms that hit the area. We are very grateful for taking such good care of our girls and we hope to use Nicole’s services again.
Nicole was great! Photos of our dog daily and we had confidence that Nicole would keep our home and dog safe. Nicole was a referral from a close friend that has used her services for years.
