Pet care experience
Pets have been a part of my family my entire life, ranging from dogs and cats to hamsters, guinea pigs and fish. I have been a pet sitter since high school and even have experience caring for birds. After graduating from college I completed two internships in animal training at Mystic Aquarium and the Georgia Aquarium. Following this I completed the dog training certification program through PetSmart and continue training dogs on my own. I'm happy to continue your training plans and/or help you teach your dog new behaviors, as requested. In August 2020, I completed a PhD at UMass Dartmouth which was focused on understanding dolphin behavior. I am very intuitive about animal behavior and am reliable and patient. Hopefully, my two cats, Charlie and Bailey, would agree that I’m a great choice for your furry family, whether canine, feline, or something more exotic!
Reviews
Nicole has been dropping in on my two cats for a couple years now. She is definitely my cats favorite and I always know I have left them in good hands with her! Nicole has been great either sending pictures of both cats daily and giving them attention and pets! Highly recommend!!
Nicole did a great job checking on our cat Tilly while we were away! Super reliable and great communication :)
Nicole provider great care and communication during our weekend away!
Thank you so so much for giving us a peace of mind for our little trip! Smokey said he loved your visits and will miss you! I can't thank you enough for caring for them and doing so great with his medications, you are a pro! Hope to have you back here again soon :)

Safety, trust & environment
I am not able to keep animals in my home but happily visit my clients in their homes. I can crate your dog, apply/provide/inject medications, and will follow any guidelines you establish for me. In the absence of guidance, I will always choose what I consider the safest option for your pet.
Information Nicole D. would like to know about your pet
I have no breed preferences. Before caring for a pet, I would like to know if they have any allergies or injuries/sore spots and if they take medication or require special attention, including ear treatments, tooth brushing, etc. I would also like to know if they have preferences for certain toys or treats, particularly anything that calms them when they are anxious (for example while their parents are away). Finally, I would like to know if they have any behavioral difficulties, such as separation anxiety, fear of storms, issues around children or other dogs, etc.
A typical day
I know that some dogs prefer the familiar so I will always defer to the parents first when choosing a place to walk and play. Trips to the dog park can also be made, if this is routine. Otherwise, we will play! I am happy to continue any training if there are behaviors that are being practiced.

Availability
I currently work from home so my schedule is relatively flexible during the week. Most weekends, my plans keep me close to home so I can be available as necessary. I do travel in summer for my research so check my schedule for availability.
