Pet care experience
Hello, My name is Nicole. I just moved back to the Sacramento area, where my family resides. I am looking to use my natural skills where they can be useful, and help supplement my adventurous lifestyle all at the same time. I am a lifelong dog person and am looking to get your pup the activity they seek! I am talented at bonding with dogs of all energy levels, so whether your dog needs a calming walk, fetch, a water day, trail run, or just someone to sit with them, I'm game! I have had dogs all my life and have a good read for them (empathy, though I do love reading if your dog is into that haha). My love for animals runs deep; I started in school for veterinary medicine and ended up graduating with a degree in wildlife conservation biology. I'm taking a break from conservation jobs for the time being to take a leap and explore other avenues. I am flexible with pay/trades as long as all involved feel it's fair. Send me a message if you are interested, and we can explore together if I can meet you and your pets needs :). I can take your pup on an adventure or do in-home visits. I have a teeny camper trailer, so don't have the space to accommodate much more than my puggle and myself. If you would like to socialize your dog, I can bring my pup along on walks, but only if you decide this is what's best for your dog. Mine has a little temper with other small female dogs (though while exercising she expands her boundaries... I personally think for the sake of adventure comrades). We can talk more and introduce them first if you'd like. I have experience with a lot of dogs (in fact, I cared for 30 of them all winter as a sled dog handler in Brimson, MN last winter) and can appreciate your dogs unique personality. I actually appreciate when folks give me a little background on their pey.. it helps me do better to provide them the care they need.

I've found that sticking to a routine can be very helpful to alleviate the stress some animals feel while being cared for by strangers, and I will do my best to keep your pets routine. I have a way of not pressuring an animal outside of their comfort zone, while letting them know I am here for them. While caring for sled dogs this past winter, I had a couple in particular who were very slow to warm to new people. I figured out tricks for each. For one, I would get her neighbor to play with me while I stayed in a crouched/seated position, allowing her interest to be piqued and she would then come and interact with me, until she gained my trust and recognition enough to come to me on her own. For the other, he was high energy but anxious, so I would play a lil hard to get and pop in and out of his space with dance moves until he wanted to play. Each animal is different and I have patience and humility to learn what makes your critter tick (and please, your recommendations and insight are gladly welcomed!)

A typical day
I can match your animals energy level, whether they prefer a day of play, a simple presence while they nap, or exercise and adventure. My dog has favorite games such as rescue the ball from the water and celebrate such rescue, hide and seek with her toys, songs with her name, dog pack walks, trail runs, and naps of course!
