Licensed VetTech offering services!
Pet care experience
I have been in the veterinary industry for 20yrs and licensed in Wisconsin since 2010 to practice as a CVT (certified veterinary technician). I've recently retired from vet med and would love to keep animals and their well being in my life. I also have a B.S. in the fields of biology and psychology from Alverno College. I am capable of caring for animals with diabetes, CKD, and other diseases that require medical expertise (S.Q. fluids, wound care, insulin injections, glucose readings, oral medications, etc.). I can give you the piece of mind that your pet will be cared for by a genuine veterinary professional that can recognize illnesses and declines in your pet's health and will seek veterinary attention if needed. Seniors, cats, and special needs pets are welcome! Also, if you need assistance with puppy/dog manners or training, I offer that as well. If you do have a pet that requires a bit more time to acclimate, I am willing to take that time I have 2 poodle mixes that are very active and we spend a fair amount of time on our acre lot playing. I love to train! Due to my background I am very in tune with animal body language and animal behavior - also cats!! I can recognize behavioral subtleties most people can't, which prevents negative, escalated interactions between dogs. I go slow to help gain trust and build from there. Some pets do well, others need some extra TLC and time. I understand fearful cats and dogs. . As I get to know every animal as an individual I'll be able to assess who can be in which day group, who is better off alone with one of my trained boys, and who just needs one on one TLC. Every dog will be assessed as an individual. Day camp is available for single individuals as well (alone with just my dogs, without other campers). Currently I am making caring for pets my full time dedication. I've enjoyed meeting my newly acquired clients and spending time with and getting to know their fur families. During the week I do have some awesome dog campers and have some pretty kitties to care for too. When I have free time, I spend more than half the day outdoors and spending time with my animal and human family. My veterinary background has allowed me to have the patience with fearful animals. I also know the "cat" language for my cat owners. I usually spend extra time in homes with pets regardless of the 30min time frame. For campers, I don't have a fenced yard, but since my 2 doodles have boundaries they usually unknowingly teach campers recall and boundaries. I help a bit with it too 😉. I do offer tips, training, and other behavioral help as well.
Reviews
Nicky is truly wonderful. She cares so much about the animals in her care, even our anti-social cat.
Nicky was absolutely fantastic. We had zero concerns once we meet with her. She knew exactly how to interact with a scared kitty and we had zero issues while we're we're gone. Also, our flight was cancelled and Nicky didn't even hesitate to help us out by caring for our kitty .
We have had our dog Snickers with Nicki and her tribe for a bit more than a month. We love her and the care she shares every day! We are blessed to have found her
I love Nicky. She’s the real deal. Lots of sitters on here don’t actually know anything about dog behavior or how to handle growing puppies. She knows her stuff and gives me peace of mind.

A typical day
Enrichment, no matter what species. For the cats I do endless play and have fresh organic catnip available for bribing purposes ?. Extra scutches and rubs etc. A tired dog is a good dog. I love to enrich my dogs with treat toys, find it games, nose work, and physical activity. We live in a single subdivision that has a huge circle for walking, a creek for the water lovers, a kiddie pool in back, and an acre to run in. We also have central air for when summer days are too hot. We have huge maple trees, butterfly and bird gardens, and apple trees for everyone to enjoy!
