Registered Vet Technician 10+ years
Pet care experience
Hi! I’m Nicki. I am a registered veterinary technician. I have been involved in some facet of veterinary medicine for the past 10+ years as an assistant, student, technician, and member of management. This spring/summer, I look forward to getting out of a clinic atmosphere, and to begin enjoying spending time with your pets, doing what they love. I love working with older animals, and helping their owners address their special needs. Everyone loves puppies (including myself – how can you not?!?), but I especially love our “older puppies.” I think a greying face is adorable! My husband and I have a 12 year old Labrador Retriever mix named Ginger and a 6 year old domestic long haired cat named Push Pop. They are my pride and joy; I’d almost consider them my children. To those who know me well – I do.
Reviews
Nicki is absolutely fantastic with our fur babies. We had a family emergency where we had to go out of town for the week and even though we gave her less than 24 hours notice that we needed to leave, she stepped right in and took care of our kiddos for us. You couldn't ask for a better sitter!!
Nicki is the greatest!
As always, Nikki is fantastic. The dogs love her and get silly-excited everytime she comes over.
Lana and Oliver just love their walks with Nicki. She is very attuned to each of them as they have different energy levels and are several years apart in age, so walks are adjusted to ensure they don't get too much or too little exercise.

Information Nichole J. would like to know about your pet
Due to my past work experience, I have had exposure to all dog breeds, and many different cat breeds. The only thing I need to know prior to watching your pet would be any special needs you pet may have, and of course, your expectations. I am more of a dog "spoil-er" than a dog trainer. I appreciate the hard work that goes into dog training, and will absolutely work with basic commands, such as sit, stay, lay down, etc. My preferred method for training a "wild" dog to walk nicely on a leash is a halti or gentle leader, along with positive reinforcement.
A typical day
Living in south city, I feel as if we are the middle of park central! There are so many nice parks in our area. My favorites include Francis Park, Tower Grove Park, and Willmore Park (home of Southwest City Dog Park.) And, of course, Forest Park. For my older fur baby, I enjoy taking her on "old lady walks" - a phrase I coined for our 15 minute long walks around the block. We also enjoy sitting in the backyard on beautiful days, playing a little fetch, and if it's hot enough - getting out the plastic puppy pool and taking a dip.
