Caring for others is my passion.
Pet care experience
As of 2024, I’ve been working with animals full time for the better part of a decade. My love for animals began in my childhood, which was filled with pets of all shapes and sizes - dogs, cats, rats, gerbils, geckos, and even a snake. I consider taking care of living beings my purpose in life, which is why I center my life around helping people. As a child, I was always babysitting, walking dogs, and taking care of my friends' and neighbors' pets. I have grown accustomed to being the responsible person my friends and contacts go to when they need a pet sitter. Throughout my life I have lived with dogs and cats of all ages and all sizes, and my love for all animals makes the work I do both fun and fulfilling. No matter what I do, I pride myself on always delivering the highest standard of care.
Reviews
Netiya has consistently been the best sitter for our two cats! She is so in tune with their needs and provides a special level of care. We can always tell how happy and comfortable our cats are after returning home and will continue to use Netiya in the future. She’s the best!
Netiya took wonderful care of our Babycakes! She is responsive, communicative and truly cares about the pets she takes care of. We will absolutely re-book Netiya on our next trip, knowing that she was there and taking care of things gave us peace of mind. I've never seen my cat so happy, either - she really made a huge difference. Thanks, Netiya!
Netiya was very sweet with my cats and understanding when they were not always friendly. I appreciated the direct communication and reliability. I was very pleased with this last minute booking for the holidays. I would recommend Netiya to anyone looking for a cat sitter.
Netiya was communicative and flexible and the dogs really liked her. Will definitely be using Netiya in the future.

I currently walk dogs full time Monday - Friday, typically between 12pm and 6pm. I also occasionally walk dogs on weekends and do cat care as needed, especially over holidays.
Information Netiya S. would like to know about your pet
To start with, any general info about their temperament is always appreciated. When it comes to dog walking and care, I always ask if a dog has any particular triggers on walks, including but not limited to squirrels, bikes, busses, and cats. I also ask how the dog is with strangers, and if they enjoy meeting and getting attention from strangers or would generally prefer to be left alone. One of the most important questions I’ll ask is how the dog feels about other dogs, particularly whether they are leash reactive, barrier reactive, or reactive towards particular sized dogs. This is very important information as I have experience walking dogs with all different levels of reactivity, and it’s crucial that I know ahead of time the best way to react to seeing other dogs on our walks. For cats I like to know a bit about their personality including their likes and dislikes, such as specific toys, treats, or places to be pet. I obviously need to know about any unique medical needs in order to provide proper care, but generally I find that most cats enjoy my company and that caring for cats comes naturally to me, so I typically don’t need as much info beforehand as I do with dogs!
A typical day
When I walk dogs, I often let them show me where they want to go, as long as it’s safe. Living in Chicago, the weather can be severe and unpredictable, so I also make sure that it is safe for us to be outdoors for the full time of the walk, and when it’s not I will do my best to make sure they do their business and then bring them back inside and play with them indoors for the remainder of the walk. For dogs who enjoy meeting strangers I will occasionally take them to the local coffee shop to give them a treat, as long as the owner permits it. I also enjoy taking dogs to local parks when possible.

Additionally, I began volunteering at Chicago Animal Care and Control in late 2018. I walk dogs at the shelter regularly, and this experience has provided me with a wealth of knowledge about canine behavior. If you are considering adopting a dog I highly recommend visiting CACC at 27th and Western - they have hundreds of dogs in their care at any given time, and they are always in need of fosters and adopters. If you are considering adopting and would like to meet a particular dog currently at the shelter, feel free to message me and I will gladly work with you to find a time to set up a meet and greet! I’m also happy to share info about becoming a volunteer, as well as my experience as a volunteer.
