Your best friend deserves the best.

Pet care experience

I grew up on a small farm in western Maryland caring for various animals including goats, chickens, and sheep. I've cared for neighbors dogs and my sisters pack over many years as a house sitter. I grew up with a family dog and cared for it in my older adolescent years. I prefer dogs to humans because they love us more than we could ever love them. I say that we don't deserve dogs because they love us and give many of us so much joy, yet they expect only care and attention in return. My belief is that you treat a dog as if it was a member of your own family, so I would treat your dog like a member of mine. I will treat your dog like you would and as you expect from one entrusted with your pet.

Nathan took great care of my active dog Tepe. He was organized and quick to respond to messages. I hope he'll be available to watch Tepe again.

Nathan has been a wonderful pet sitter to all my pets (Dog, 6 cats, parakeets and Anoles) for many years. Any instructions I leave are always followed perfectly. Nathan also has great common sense and I am confident he could handle any situation that might arise. He is good at communicating and is kind, smart and responsible. I give Nathan my highest recommendation!!!!

Nathan was awesome. He was very communicative and gave me clear updates on how Chico was doing. He was also happy to replicate how we handle Chico at home. Chico came back happy and tired so 'd book with him again!

Information Nathan S. would like to know about your pet

I don't have any breed preferences (although I hope you adopted your dog from the shelter!) but I don't really like smaller dogs. They seem extra afraid of everything, probably because they lack the mass of large dogs, and are therefore prone to bark and yap more than their larger counterparts. Before I care for your pet, I'd like to know as much as possible about them. What types of treats they like and what spot is best to scratch to win them over (and what to stay away from). I also want to know what your habits with them are like so I can try to replicate. If you don't allow your dog to get on your furniture or bed I'd like to know that as well so I can maintain that rule in my home.

A typical day

I like to walk dogs from my place to downtown DC. I run with dogs if they're willing and able to run with me. I love playing tug of war and fetch with dogs. I live about three blocks from Rock Creek park so I'd probably explore those trails if ok with both owner and pet. There's a dog park for my building to allow for bathroom breaks and I live only a few blocks from Meridian Hill Park.
