If you have to leave your pets, leave them in the care of someone who will love them as much as you do. I'm new to Rover and fairly new to the area, but I have been pet sitting and getting paid to work with animals for over a decade. Since I was old enough to walk, I always loved animals. I've had cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, fish, rats, hamsters, and hermit crabs, and have always loved them like they were part of the family. I have many years of experience volunteering in shelters, and during my college years I worked as a veterinary assistant where I learned to administer medications properly to animals of all kinds and temperaments. After college, I have enjoyed spending some of my down time continuing to meet and care for new furry friends. I have a flexible schedule, and would love to hear about your pet and their needs :)

Nathan is the best. He has really tries hard to build a bond with our dogs so that they feel comfortable when left with him. He is very responsible and caring. He stays at our house with the dogs and keeps the place in great shape. We WILL be having him over again.
We are pretty disappointed with this stay. Our dogs were meant to be cared for the most of the day but on day 4, the dogs were left for 7 hrs with no communication to any of the contacts left for the sitter. The sitter left 7hrs earlier than originally booked without any reimbursement which was mentioned when agreed upon the leave change. Dogs weren’t walked at all. Neighbors let us know that dogs were barking until 11pm at night which is 100% not normal, lights inside and outside were left on at all times and loud tv/video games were heard late. We let sitter know to watch our puppy closely outside but noticed the backyard trashed from the puppy digging while we were gone. We have a 2 rating due to our dogs still in good health when we returned.

Nathan did a wonderful job sitting for our two dogs and watching our house for a week. One of our dogs was rather untrusting at first but Nathan was patient and let Harlie take her time getting comfortable with him until finally he sent us a pic of her snuggling for a tummy scratch 😁. Our other dog liked him from the very first meeting. We would have Nathan back anytime.

Pets are just like family. Every pet is different and has their own personality and needs. Going outside and playing with pets is good for my health as much as it is for theirs, so I like to do that every day. But if your pet prefers to keep its distance from new people or just doesn't like to play outside, I'm happy to adjust to make both of you happy. If you are looking for someone to stay in your home for an extended time, you can know that I take pride in leaving everything exactly how it was when you left so you can come back to a happy, wagging tail and no worries.

Otherwise, here are some things I think can be helpful for knowing how to best take care of your pet: - diet/meds - how they act with strangers - if they like other animals/dogs - favorite toys/activities - if they're used to being away from you I've worked with all kinds of animals and I'm confident I can find ways to positively engage with your pets, but I will always take any additional information you want to provide :)
A typical day
What a typical day looks like depends on the dog! I love to go to dog parks and play fetch so we both get our exercise in. If your dog loves hiking or going for a swim, I'm happy to take them on those trips as well! There are so many beautiful outdoor places to go, no one should get bored of exploring.

Availability
Currently my schedule is flexible, so I can be available whenever you need me the most! How I work with pets always depends on the needs of the pet and your specific wants/needs. I've worked with it all, from endlessly energetic ball chasers to blind, diabetic felines. I am happy to adjust to whatever you need, and generally don't need too much notice if you're unsure of your schedule.
