Loving, Dedicated, Playful

Pet care experience

Note: My service area includes all of Seattle. I only offer care outside of Seattle proper when a vehicle is provided for my use. If you are located on Mercer Island, the Eastside, or a Seattle suburb, I can also recommend my sister Brigitta—another fantastic Rover sitter. “Dogs are better than human beings because they know but do not tell.” —Emily Dickinson I'm the rare pet lover who didn't grow up with them. It wasn't until I had moved out that I learned what they could add to my life. Dogs' grace, presence, and playfulness is unmatched in the human realm. They're whip-smart and they know it...yet they not only put up with us, they share an abundance of love and warmth. I've also lived with amazing cats over the years and developed unbreakable bonds with them. I feel so lucky to live in a world with such amazing creatures! Fortunately, I've found a purpose by pet-sitting for friends, neighbors, and strangers in the last few years. I've house-sat alone and with a partner, cared for pets of all ages—from a thirteen-week-old pup to an aging sixteen-year-old—and many sizes, and handled a wide variety of challenges that have prepared me for any possible situation. Your pet's wellbeing will always be paramount to me, which means that I'll arrange my days around ensuring that their needs are fully met and they want for nothing. Training is one of my passions, and I'm eager to work with you if there's any way I can assist with improving behaviors and responsiveness. I use lots of rewards, treats, and praise to help dogs with walk training, potty issues, or other concerns. I will always seek to reinforce whatever you're in the process of teaching. I also have lots of experience with senior dogs, from administering medication to monitoring joints, ear conditions, or other medical concerns. With a younger pet, I'll focus on lots of active play; with an older one, I'll make sure they get enough exercise to maintain mobility and health. During a stay or visit, we'll explore the local park, play fetch in the yard, snuggle—I'm all about maximizing your pet's experience! I always make sure that your pet can be as near me as they'd like while I work, sleep, and go about my day. I'll pay close attention to cues and keep you updated if I have any concerns or questions.

Nat was a champion of Milo care!! She arrived on time, greeted Milo so well, and watched him for a late night out. We came home to a super happy pup, and we were relaxed out all evening thanks to Nat. Would totally have her again!

Safety, trust & environment

As a sitter, your pet's safety always comes first. I'm a quick thinker who can adapt to new situations, and I'll be sure to communicate clearly and effectively to cover all our bases. In the city, I'm very aware of potential distractions and dangers on walks. I'll also check in about medical needs and any important info that will help me keep your pet safe.

Information Nat S. would like to know about your pet

- What are your dog's health needs, such as allergies, medication or special care? - Are there any habits you're trying to encourage, or to help your pet overcome? - What kind of hours do you and your dog usually keep? When are your mealtimes, walks, and bedtime?

A typical day

Most dogs will quickly let me know what they like to do best, and where they like to go! We'll go on morning and evening walks; the length will depend on the dog's preferences and usual schedule. There will be plenty of time for potty breaks, playtime, and treats. I'll reward good behavior and make sure they're getting plenty of love and attention if they seem anxious. I enjoy fetch, tug-of-war, and whatever games your dog likes. The pup can settle down with a chew toy or snuggle with me when we relax after dinner. I'll follow your usual schedule as closely as I'm able to, and send you photos and even videos so you can stay in the loop and see what a great time we're having!

Availability

I'm a teacher, facilitator, and coach with an extremely flexible schedule, working from home. I'll work with you and review your pet's needs to make sure we find a routine that works great for everyone involved. I do have some commitments and events that take me away from home, usually for less than 4 hours at a time. For practical reasons, I do not work with clients who wouldn't want me to have trusted guests over, such as a partner or close friends. That flexibility allows me to give your pet the best care while keeping my schedule manageable.
