WFH Rescue Foster, Senior Pup Lover

Pet care experience

I grew up around dogs and started fostering for an all-breed rescue based out of Boston 3 years ago. In 1.5 years, I fostered 15 small to medium dogs of many breeds, each dog bringing their own unique quirks. Senior dogs have a special place in my heart as I have one of my own. I also became a mentor to new foster families. After moving to DC, I couldn’t continue fostering for the rescue but I did work as medical coordinator for 1.5 years. I dealt with all types of medical issues from allergies, ophth, derm, ortho, you name it. I’m more than happy to take care of your pups with medical needs.

Naomi was able to be flexible when I needed a sitter last-minute for an unexpected trip, she sent great photos and updates, and I felt like my dog was safe and happy the whole time. Even though it was my first booking with her and there were some scheduling curve balls, she handled everything like a pro and made me feel confident/comfortable leaving my best friend in her care.

Wallee had a great time with Naomi and Sophie! He came home all smiles. It is really helpful that Naomi is so gentle with the senior pups like Wallee.

Naomi was so wonderful! I have a slightly anxious dog who is a little wary of new people, but Naomi did a great job of just going at her pace and getting her comfortable. Naomi even noticed an issue with my girl’s eye that needed to be addressed, which I really appreciated. Overall, I felt very comfortable that my girl was in good hands. I will definitely be calling Naomi again when I need a sitter!

Information Naomi S. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know how often you take your dog out and feed them. How do they interact with other dogs? Do they need playtime to let energy out or are they more calm? Are they skittish or fearful of anything? Any other behaviors to be cognizant of? Do they take medication?

A typical day

Navy Yard is an amazing dog-friendly neighborhood. We like to walk down towards the Capitol Riverfront for extended walks and near the ballpark on non-game days. My own dog is not big into dog parks but whenever I watch higher energy dogs that are comfortable in a dog park setting, Sophie and I will sit and monitor the other dog play!
