Pet care experience

Joyful just walked dogs to greet you at the end of a long workday? Happy cats to return home to after your short or long vacation? Pictures of your pets sent as many times a day as you like while you're away? Dependability and adaptability to back you and your pets up when life throws you a curveball? A calm and creative pet problem solver on call? Whatever exceptional pet care looks like to you - from occasional or regular sitting to a rainy day walk to a weekly walking schedule to a trusted Pet Family Partner for the long term - my aim is to completely understand and deliver it. Thank you for choosing to view my profile and pictures! I hope you'll consider being in touch to schedule a complimentary meet and greet visit to try me on for just the right fit. I’d love to meet you and your pet family! Chatting with you in person about what makes your pets special and unique and giving them a chance to check me out as a new best buddy is so important to me. I’m happy to stay as long as you like to clarify care expectations and answer all your questions. What I love about Pet Care Dogs and cats have contributed to my life in countless ways. Dogs especially encourage me in joy and loving kindness. I have a lifelong desire to give back the best care possible. I'm happy to say I'm committed to Pet Care full time now! My history of care includes every age - from puppies and kittens to seniors and special needs cats and dogs, which are a big soft spot for me. My own special needs dogs have included Beau, a Golden Retriever with epilepsy, Ginger, a senior 3 legged Lhasa Apso rescue, and Sophie, my senior Cocker Spaniel who took months to walk again after back surgery for disc disease and has the happiest temperament of any dog I've ever known! A note about pet/house sitting I’m happy to add peace of mind while you’re gone by watering the plants, tending to the garden, bringing in the mail, letting you know the grass was mowed on schedule, and anything else, just ask! (subject to your requirements, this may involve additional fee)

Nancy goes above and beyond to ensure my dog, Tobin, is happy and comfortable. Tobin has severe anxiety and Nancy continues to be patient and a calming presence for him. Not to mention, she is so easy to work with and super flexible with changing schedules etc. thank you, Nancy!

Nancy was great! We booked her last minute for an Easter trip. It was clear that she knew the right questions to ask when initially meeting, she also took notes. I had no concerns about our dog being watched by Nancy. Needless to say, Nacy continued to keep me updated with every visit. After our trip, Nancy stopped by the next to drop off our key which was nice! Our dog was once again VERY happy to see her ha! We most definitely will use her again in the future!

We forgot to confirm our booking, but Nancy came away to walk our dog! Nancy is the best and most reliable dog friend around. Highly recommended!

Safety, trust & environment

I'm trained and current in Pet First Aid and CPR, and I'm developing a Pet Home Safety Check to bring more knowledge of hazards and pet safety to clients. Did you know dogs have died from ingesting Xylitol, a common sugar-free sweetener? I didn't until studying pet nutrition: I take Pet Nutrition classes, read broadly on Pet Nutrition and work closely with a Pet Nutrition consultant for new issues that arise for my clients. You'll find me ever interested in learning and sharing new ways to bring more joy and health to our beloved fur family members. FYI MY COVID PRECAUTIONS: I'm fully vaccinated and boosted with 3 Phizer vax and 3 Moderna vax. I’m current with flu shots. I wear masks whenever I'm inside anyone's home and in all public and private facilities. I also wear masks when visiting outdoor facilities and when visiting with clients and pets outdoors. I carry hand sanitizer and use it before entering and after leaving a client's home. Please don't hesitate to ask me any questions about this, or request I add something to meet your needs. Please let me know if anyone in your household is immunocompromised or not fully vaccinated. Thank you!

Information Nancy J. would like to know about your pet

Some things I like to learn ahead of time: Does your pet have any health issues that need to be tended to? For instance, dietary restrictions, medicine, or behavior triggers? The name and address of your regular vet. Your preference of after-hours emmergency vet, if ever needed. What commands does your dog or cat respond to? What are your house and human food rules for your pets? Does your dog or cat like to stick to a given schedule, like regular walks in the morning and evening or meals at a very specific time? If not, what is the prefered time range? What does your cat or dog especially love? What does your dog or cat try to avoid? Does you cat or dog have any endearing and/or surprising talents or traits? Everything else you would like me to know?

A typical day

My dog Sophie, a senior Cocker Spaniel, would tell you I'm fun, I'm active, and that I love to walk and play and explore together! My dog clients find that I have a very good tennis ball and frisbee throwing arm. My cat clients know that once I’ve finished taking care of their food, water, meds and litter needs, I’ll spend the rest of the visit playing with them in just the way they want to play. And I never tire of being a world class cuddler morning, noon or night. I'm always on the lookout for what your dogs and cats enjoys the most, and I love finding creative ways to deliver it. No matter what we do, your pets will have fun! What about walking in the rain? I really enjoy walking in a gentle rain, and I can handle a downpour, too. So, if you're looking for a rainy weather walker, I'd love to hear from you! From my years of living on the coast and being on boats in foul weather, I've got 2 sets of foul weather gear that keep me nice and dry. From my love of nature and hiking, I have 3 sets of waterproof hiking shoes and boots which are geared to any temperature. Along with pet first aid, I carry a lightweight medium sized doggie raincoat for my dog or yours in my waist pack. I carry plenty of towels in my car to dry dogs off before coming back inside your home. We don't go for walks in stormy or slippery conditions, but I'm happy to arrange visits for potty breaks outside and super snuggles inside. I'll follow your lead and instructions on the experience you'd like for me to provide your pup. Would you like to schedule a complimentary meet and greet to plan ahead for those wet weather days you'd like to stay high and dry, while your pup safely enjoys the release of some pent up energy? If so, please be in touch.

Some background on me, please don’t hesitate to ask for more: I've been involved in customer service all of my life, so my number one priority is making sure that my clients feel completely and totally taken care of. I was in the international travel business for many years providing concierge level service to executive, luxury and adventure travel clients. So, I understand the worry of leaving precious pets behind for weeks at a time! As a consultant in learning and development, the focus on listening and understanding and supporting people in reaching their goals and realizing their opportunities is very similar to the process I follow listening, understanding and realizing the goals of the pet families I serve. I've always been a creative problem solver, which has been important in all of my personal and professional roles, especially resolving disputes as a mediator for a number of years. I'm always interested in knowing what represents exceptional service to my clients and delivering on that. Building trusted relationships is key. Getting to know what makes your pets tick is incredibly important to me. I want to make sure that I always have all the requisite information to keep them happy and healthy, so getting as much knowledge as possible is always a huge priority for me.
