We are lovers of all dogs. Need to know beforehand: medical history; vet contact, what scares your dog; daily routine; what is your dog not allowed to do (e.g. sit on furniture) and what is your discipline method, if any; your dog's favorite activity; is there a reward for good behavior; allergies; how long can your dog be left alone; do you have a harness for walks, are your tags/vaccinations up-to-date, where does your dog sleep, how does your dog feel about meeting new dogs, any quirks. Are there other animals in the home? (Birds/snakes/spiders, etc.) For the dog's emotional health it would be great to meet the pup before you left for your trip.

My son was born in Colorado and while living there we hiked with our dogs... and cats! Our backdoor opened to half a million national forest acres, so off we went. I believe Long Beach has a dog friendly beach; my son and I are love the beach and there's nothing more joy-filled that a dog in the water. I once threw a stick into the water to a retriever for hour, necessitating a generous amount of liniment. Calm walks around the block are fun, too. And plenty of snuggling.
