Pet care experience
Totally dog proofed! I am home all day. I do rescue and help with transport for Smola's Rescue Railroad. In my spare time I make custom dog blankets. Most of my experience is with big dogs- German Shepherd Dogs in particular, but that doesn't mean that I don't like small dogs. I love all dogs!! All are welcome! I will board a kitty if you have one that needs to be with your dog. I have excellent references and years of experience. Will care for seniors and hospice dogs. Former SAR K-9 handler and trainer. Make dog treats for your dog to take home and spoil them just a little. Well, actually a lot. I treat your pets like I would treat my own pets.

Nancy was great! She has a big fenced-in back yard with a little pool, and balls for Toby to play with. She gave extra treats and Toby had a great time!
Nancy is great! We boarded our dogs with her 8/21/16 - 8/24/16. My wife and I had never boarded our dogs before, so when we decided to go out of town we had some reservations. Especially since one of our dogs is diabetic and requires insulin injections. Right From the meet and greet You can tell Nancy is a dog lover and put our minds at ease and we were confident our dogs would be well taken care of. Nancy is a great communicator, and we received multiple pictures and updates daily. Would not hesitate to board with her again.
Had to go to St. Louis for a convention from July 1st -5th and did not have anyone to watch my little dog as my family normally does. I googled Dog Boarding sites and found Nancy from Saranac. From the very 1st phone call I was very confident I was making the right choice taking Peanut to her. She was very welcoming to myself and Peanut. I have to say it is the 1st time I was not worried in any way that my dog was not being given the attention and care while I was gone out of state which made it easier for myself. She is such a caring animal lover and you can see it right away. When I picked up Peanut she shared how much she enjoyed him and his behavior and had a doggie bag of goodies for him for his departure. I will not even think twice about not taking him back to her. Amazing lady with a big heart for animals. Thanks again Nancy for taking care of Peanut never will have words enough to thank you. Becky

I'd like to know if the dog is socialized. I had one bad experience with a dog that came here and on the meet and greet bit me. If a dog isn't well socialized I'd like to know this in advance and can always work with them while they're here.
A typical day
In the summer we have three turtle pools for swimming and playing. My back yard is completely fenced in and reinforced as I have a dog that likes to escape and is a runner. There are balls and kongs for them to play with and there is also a huge hole that my dogs have dug in the middle of the yard. All of the dogs like to dig and I let them. There are a lot of little holes dug in my yard. I'm pretty sure I know which dogs are doing the digging. All of them do except Tippy! We keep saying that Lammie is trying to dig his way back to Alabama.
