Almost like home for your fur-baby.

Pet care experience

I have been an animal lover all my life. Retired 11 years ago, I hate leaving my dogs alone for anything, so I that led me to begin dog day care in my home. Previously an Emergency Medical Technician and Firefighter, long time commercial driver. Have 6+ years with three of my therapy dogs in hospital settings, with experiences in Psych, Cancer, Heart, Surgical departments and in waiting rooms. We've also done volunteering in nursing homes. I have completed courses online with an ICOES (International Council for Online Educational Standards) Internationally accredited provider in Animal Psychology, Animal Care, Animal First Aid and CPR, Pet Adoption, Animal Training and Pet Sitting, Care of the Senior Pet, Animal Physical Therapy (not a license), Dog Behavior and Training. Nutrition will be my next course.

Nancy is the bestest! Dobby comes so happy and exhausted after playing with her crew. I never have to worry for a single second that he is safe and sound.

Nancy was a very caring and accommodating person. We were so happy to have her take care of our husky. Unfortunately, the husky isn’t fond of chickens :(. I recommend Nancy to anyone looking for a very nice person to take care of their dog.

Nancy was amazing and Dobby came home tired, happy and well cared for. I have never used a service like this before but I have already booked Dobby's next visit with Nancy because it went so well.

Nancy and her husband were really great with my dog Maisy! Nancy is obviously dedicated to animals, and she provided affection/attention as well as care and security for my dog. I can't say enough about how grateful I am to have been able to leave my dog in her while I was away. Thank you!

Safety, trust & environment

I have almost an acre fenced in. 3/4 of it is chain link, the rest is woven wire. The front double gates have one strand of electric fence wire for added protection, as dogs seem to go to those gates and look out. The front door of my house has a small iron fence before the door, the front 2 doors and an inside door between the foyer and rest of the house. I have a crate set up inside, multiple crates outside and a larger kennel ready for use if needed. But usually your pet, if he's not an escape artist, jumper, climber or digger will be free like my dogs. They will roam the whole house, sleep wherever they choose, there are multiple beds and comforters down. Dishes and bedding are thoroughly washed and bleached during after each pet stay. Some actually jump in bed with us. Food is usually served in the foyer away from my dogs. Water is inside and outside. A kiddie pool is set up in appropriate weather. Our home is fairly small but we make up for it with a great yard. We don't have a usable basement and only have A/C in our dining room and our bedroom. The back part of the property is set up for roaming, sniffing, exploring all the wild animal smells and in and out of the little barn. We have cameras set up, some of the areas covered are the front door and the double gates. Each dog is tagged with dog-sitter information in case of escape. I want to be clear, this is probably not the property to bring some breeds.. Dogs here will roam freely and play hard, get dirty and be exposed to chickens, cats, a parrot, other dogs and an occasional neighbor kid.

Information NANCY B. would like to know about your pet

I will want to know if your dog climbs, digs or pushes at the fence or gates, or any other thing like bolting if it gets the opportunity, trying to slip the collar when on the leash. I want to know, if you know, will they chase animals, instinctively or aggressively? Is your dog fearful of anything, ie: hot air balloons, the Goodyear blimp (they go over us), fireworks, gunshots, noisy automobiles, especially anything that might make him bolt, hide or need a safe place to go. I need to know if your dog will come when called and what word or words you use, does he know "leave it", "stay", etc. Of course any allergies, medical conditions, your vet's name and number and we will discuss what you want me to do in an emergency (your vet or mine that is nearby, call you first, etc.). Is there any food or treat that you DO NOT want it getting while here? Are there any restrictions/limits on "snacks", I may be cooking or baking something up! Does your dog have any particular behaviors you know of as far as getting along with other dogs?

A typical day

Having almost an acre fenced in, and free access most days to come in the house or be outside, your dog will enjoy all that freedom. We could take a walk in the neighborhood. A bath could be in order if your owner requests that. There are dogs, cats, free range chickens and a parrot living here. I will play a little, go over some simple commands if you like (I find dogs do this easier with other dogs, especially if just learning). we will "explore" the property for ground hog holes, squirrels and rabbit smells, my dog's favorite pastimes. I could fill the kiddie pool if your dog likes that ! And of course, all the time your pet needs to lounge in the sun or shade.
