Full Time Professional Dog Trainer!

Pet care experience

Morgan McMurdy, CPDT-KA I have a flexible schedule and years of experience with boarding kennels, pet retail, dog walking, training and grooming! I offer dog training services using humane and effective methods to foster better communication, trust, and partnership with your dog (Contact me for training inquiries)! This training experience means that any time your pet is with me, I can retain and refine their manners and basic skills, sometimes even teaching them something new! Please feel free to call me to talk more if you have any questions! I also can give your pup a wash and basic trim if they're staying with me.

Morgan was fantastic! She took excellent care of my dog who needs special attention behaviorally. She was quick to respond and sent many pictures and videos throughout the day.

Morgan is amazing and will highly recommend to everyone. She helped me with a very last minute overnight need for my dog. Not only is she flexible and accommodating, but upon our first meeting, she has a very calm presence. This is great for all dogs, especially if your dog is shy/scared/timid and does not like new people around. My dog is very shy/scared and sensitive. She definitely does not like new people approaching her or around her. However Morgan’s approach was to take things slow and it turns out my dog was very happy and comfortable around Morgan (a total stranger to her!). It was also helpful to have her dogs as a neutral ground to show her everything will be fine since she is a very low confident dog. Morgan communicates and updates you through the day with photo and videos. I thank my lucky stars to stumble upon Morgan and will definitely be using her services again

Morgan did an excellent job with my pup! She sent lots of cute pictures and detailed notes about the walks. She asked questions and was attentive during our meet and greet to make sure she’d be able to take care of Penny and maintain her regular routines. I would definitely recommend!

All of my work is done using safe, yet effective and fun methods! As a certified professional dog trainer, I adhere to the CCPDT Code of Ethics, which means I treat both my human and furry clients with respect and care! Most of my work involves the use of rewards like treats, play, attention, and access to things our dogs want most. And to prevent or decrease unwanted behavior, I use short time-outs, withholding of rewards, or redirection to another productive activity. Feel free to ask questions if you want to learn more about how I train. As far as living with dogs, we have a partially fenced yard with tie-outs, can utilize long lines for walks, and have dog-friendly pups and cats here to keep everyone company. In client's homes, I aim to leave the home in as good or better condition than I arrived. I treat all dogs under my care as if they were my own, and I make sure that I leave my pups with something to do before I head out. Satefy is always my top priority! I off-leash hiked dogs for a few years and know all about how to safely manage all kinds of "furry" situations. I also have a few extra crates for naptime, separation during mealtimes, or if a pup simply wants a safe and quiet place to rest.

Information Morgan M. would like to know about your pet

If your dog has allergies, please let me know as I do carry treats around nearly all the time! You never know when you'll run into a rewardable moment. I have experience with all breeds and have no restrictions on which breeds I will take, but if your dog has a history of aggression or reactivity, we just need to discuss that beforehand to set expectations and make sure everyone is safe.

A typical day

While in your home or on a walk, we will be working on skills like impulse control, leash manners, greeting skills, recall, crate skills, attention, tricks, and more! They will be treated as I treat my own pups, and given all the patience and guidance they need to succeed. I also like to allow dogs to enjoy enriching activities like finding hidden treats, digging in the leaves, learning a new trick, or working for some food in a puzzle toy to help tire their minds as well as their bodies. I find dogs given this enrichment time are happier, better behaved, and have an easier time settling in the house.

I work from home as well as traveling locally to serve the pups of Coal Creek Canyon! I also offer virtual and in-person training services and can meet with you to help tackle behavior and training problems! I am aiming to remodel one of our outbuildings as a training and play space for our pups. I'll be offering daycare training services there, and boarding for up to two dogs at a time. Likely coming fall of 2024.
