Koa had a great stay with Monica and Connor. They took great care of him and kept me update on how he was doing. I’m sure he enjoyed getting all the attention.

Our 4 year-old Shiba Inu, Hanzo, stayed with Monika and Conner for 9 nights. Hanzo has a history of separation anxiety and had made great improvements since we adopted him (8 months at that point), especially with being on Prozac (on Prozac for 4 months at that point). This was the first time our dog was boarded since he’s been on Prozac and we didn’t think he would relapse again. Monika and Conner seemed like a nice couple but it seemed like this was their first experience with a dog with a history of separation anxiety and they didn’t know what they were getting themselves into. I left specific instructions on Hanzo’s routine but it was my fault for not informing them about how important it is for dogs with separation anxiety to be on a routine schedule. I also forgot to mention tips when leaving him alone (i.e. leaving the TV on for background noise, sneaking out quietly, and not giving him immediate attention when returning home, etc.). A couple of days into our vacation, we received a message that Hanzo’s anxiety had relapse while he was left along ---he soiled his crate, tore up is blanket, and injured himself when he tore his nose on the bed’s zipper. This ruined our vacation a bit but we were able to give them some advice on what to do with him. Monika was able to bring Hanzo into work and they both worked to make Hanzo feel more comfortable the rest of the stay. I was concerned to find that they missed one of his doses of Prozac, based on the number of remaining pills in the bottle when he came home. The couple seemed a bit unorganized as they forgot to put one of the bottles of meds back into his bag of belongings. We booked the stay 1 month in advanced and during the initial booking, they were quick to make the transaction but afterwards, was very slow to respond to my messages. Up until a day before the boarding, I still did not have their address (we had a meet & greet at a park) and was getting really nervous because we were leaving the country. Rover was great and got involved for them to finally communicate. Overall, we’ve had better boarding experiences on Rover and would recommend them for dogs without special needs.
