Dog mom for life!

Pet care experience

I have adopted a Siberian Husky pup during the pandemic (like most people did). It was a challenging first year with his constant bursts of energy (a typical husky, right!). A lot of training and love was put into the upkeep of this dog, and it’s been more than worth it for me. I’m a strong advocate of positive reinforcement, but also some tough love when the dog is too hyped.

Monica helped us out on very short notice. We had a family emergency and had to book last minute travel. Monica adjusted her personal plans to help us. Can’t say thank you enough!

Information Monica Y. would like to know about your pet

Any allergies of course! And if they don’t get along with other dogs, just so that I pay extra attention when we’re out and about. I also need to know if they’re house trained , what their food schedule is like, and how often they need to go out.

A typical day

My dog has set the standards pretty high when it comes to being active. Going on longs walks, runs, some ball fetching, and meeting up with other friendly dogs is how I go about keeping my dog (and yours) happy and far from bored. I’m also open to trying other activities. If the dog is used to going outside, then outside we’ll be, whether at a dog park or a walk around the block (with respect to the weather/heat of course). If they just like to chill at home, we’ll find something interesting to do with toys or just chill.

I’m currently a full-time student, some classes in person and some on zoom, so I manage my time between everything I need to do. Pet sitting is a stress relief for me, so I’ll make time for it weekdays and weekends. On weekdays unless I have online lectures, what I typically do is set your pup (s) in the morning (meal+potty+walk) before 8, then come back around noon (depending on how far from school) to check on them, and then back again around 5 to spend the rest of the day/evening.
