Hi! I'm Monica! My husband Chris and I are new to Rover, but not to doggie care; we are avid dog-lovers with tons of experience. Our beloved rescue dog Magnolia passed away recently and, for the first time in a long time, our home was empty. I decided the best way to feel better was to lavish love on other dogs! That means treats, soft beds, toys and full access to the entire home and yard. For older dogs, our home has a ramp for easy access and aching bones. I have a soft spot for gray muzzles and our house is stocked with Glucosamine treats and heating pads in case your senior dog needs some TLC. I am a TV Producer and artist, and I work from home full-time. In my years working with the Discovery Channel, I followed street dogs around Detroit for over a year. When my TV show wrapped, I founded Detroit's first and only no-kill shelter (Detroit Dog Rescue). The organization now rescues hundreds of dogs each year and I consider it one of my greatest accomplishments. My husband and I have also fostered extensively, and we are very proud to have placed 10 dogs in happy homes. We have experience with all dogs from tiny teacup Yorkies to sweetfaced Pibbles to the giant Mastiffs. We love them all :) We have recently decided to adopt another rescue dog and named her Bug. She is sweet and gentle and loves having other dogs in the house to play with. As a side note, I am a pet portrait artist...so you may very well end up with a painting of your best friend!
