My name is Misty and my love for animals began when I was very young. Animals would gravitate towards me because I knew how to properly respect and communicate with them. I am happiest when surrounded by dogs. Throughout my life I’ve had the pleasure to adopt multiple dogs. All of my pups have been rescues. We’ve never had to hire a trainer because I was able to train them myself. I started a dog walking business around my neighborhood and it took off. My clients could see that their dogs came back very happy and tired. My clients noticed that their dog’s behavior was better because I was training them while they walked. I use positive reinforcement while training the dogs; which is giving a treat to the dog when they do something good. This helped with a lot of dogs but did not help with all of them. I then started to learn about pack mentality. This is the idea that dogs are looking to the alpha/pack leader to make decisions. The alpha makes all of the decisions and takes the stress off of the rest of the pack. This training method has become extremely helpful. When I have multiple dogs in my household they all need to coexist and that is only possible if there is a calm, confident, and assertive leader. I have walked six dogs at one time. This would never be possible if I didn't establish myself as the pack leader. As the alpha, I am physically leading the pack. I also tell them when we are migrating together and when it is time to stop, sniff, and go potty. I’ve had dogs that used to pull, bark, and lunge on a walk and after establishing myself as the alpha then they walk calmly beside me and look to me when they are unsure of a situation. I believe that a tired dog is a happy dog. If they are tired that means they have received plenty of exercise and mental stimulation throughout the day. I am truly passionate about what I do. Dogs have contributed to the person I am today. Without them I wouldn't smile or laugh nearly as much. I don’t know what a home feels like without the pitter-patter of paws on the floor, wet noses, warm cuddles and sloppy kisses. I work with all breeds, ages, and behaviors.
