Pet care experience
NO PEE PADS PLEASE ~ I am a teacher and mother of three. We live in a single family home near Bolsa Chica State Beach. There are lots places to go in this dog-friendly town! We have extensive animal experience, both with fostering/rescuing and having our own. My girls and I are home for the summer (I am a teacher and they are teens), and that is when we do most of our boarding. No need to worry - your pet will get lots of attention! We have owned dogs and cats (all crossed Rainbow Bridge at ripe old ages of 12+ yrs), and have fostering experience with bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, geckos, fish, and bearded dragons! The only pets we currently have are a bearded dragon named Thomas and some fish. My girls are 14 and 17 years old and have fostered animals and volunteered with a rescue society for years so they are pretty savvy with animals. My husband grew up on a farm and is an animal lover, as well! We are patient and kind with our boarders and have no problem with elderly dogs/cats, medications, etc. Sometimes, we go on special trips to the beach or the park for playtime - it all depends on the animal. We can’t promise that your pet won’t miss you, but we can promise to give them lots of love and attention while they are with us! We also send tons of pics and texts so you’ll always be in the loop! So sorry - we cannot accept animals who have potty accidents in the house or pee pads - they MUST be fully house trained. We prefer dogs older than 2 years, because we allow them free reign when they are here and don't want damage to our belongings :) If your pup prefers a crate, please bring it with you. Kitties need to bring their litter boxes, too.

Mindi and her family took such great care of our Rocco! We were gone for 16 days and she sent updates and pictures everyday. It was so reassuring to know our sweet dog was getting lots of love and attention. We will definitely book with Mindi again!!

We have a fenced in yard with a pool and spa, along with a fenced in front courtyard. We live in a quiet, calm neighborhood close to Bolsa Chica. We do not allow our boarders in the yard or courtyard without one of us being out there with them, and we typically don't allow them in the pool, as their hair tends to clog the filters. That said, we know some love water and may take them to the beach if they want to get wet!

I would like to know what their triggers are and any health and/or diet concerns. Animals must be 100% house trained. No pee pads. No marking. No chewing on shoes/furniture. No excessive barking. We must have veterinary contact information before you can leave your animal with us, in case there is an emergency while you are gone.
A typical day
We will walk at local parks. Trips to dog beaches are ok, too - we won’t do this unless it’s ok with you and your pet, as public animal recreation areas can be unpredictable! We live in a very dog-friendly neighborhood and there will be lots for them to see. If you have a more shy pet, no worries - we live in a quiet, calm house and can surround them with love and peace, too.

Availability
We are home during the summer months, so we are at your pet's disposal! We can go for lots of walks - even to the boardwalk! If they are comfy with car rides, they can go on errands with me! We don't take them to the dog park, as we cannot predict what other dogs will do. We are happy to take them to Dog Beach in Huntington, if you like.
