Patient, encouraging pet lover

Pet care experience

Heyyy I'm Mike! I'm a scripted TV Producer that dabbles in dogwalking when I'm not working. Moved to Brooklyn from Los Angeles earlier this year and just wrapped a gig. I'm looking to meet some dogs in my neighborhood and have an excuse to crunch some falls leaves. Having grown up with animals of all kinds, in the last 10 years I've gotten my pet fix from frequently dog-sitting and walking for friends and colleagues... then subsequently dog-sitting and walking for THEIR friends and colleagues. I've rescued dogs off the street, befriended every pup I meet in passing, and fostered when I have availability. Three years ago I even rescued an adorable (but skittish) terrier mix named Shelby, and while she had to stay in LA upon my recent move, I hope to spread all that pent-up love out to the pet population in Ditmas Park. I'm certified for Cat & Dog First Aid through American Red Cross, passed "Rover 101" with a perfect score, and plan on studying dog training in my free time -- hoping to expand to those services in the near future.

Mike is fabulous! Great communication, timely, and great energy with the pups - especially Tink who can be anxious around new people! Sheba loves their walks and they clearly have a great time together. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Mike stopped by to let our 2 dogs out while we were at work and did an awesome job. He suggested a meet and great beforehand and we immediately felt comfortable with him in our home and caring for our pets. One of our dogs is very timid but Mike was very patient and understanding. He cares about his interactions with animals and it shows. Thanks Mike!

Safety, trust & environment

I'm a very attentive walker/sitter. My first priority is making your animal feel comfortable and taken care of. The intensity of my typical "day job" makes taking care of dogs a total delight and I am very responsible for the safety, health, and happiness of your animal!

Information Mike D. would like to know about your pet

I've taken care of dogs big and small, well-behaved and a little rambunctious. Would love to come meet your pet and then we can discuss the next steps!

A typical day

I'm a big hiker (lived in Alaska for a while) and live very close to Prospect Park. I am able to walk -- or run! -- with your dog to their heart's content. I was a JV pitcher (southpaw) in high school and can throw that ball all dayum DAY. Or if your pupper just wants someone to cuddle with, I'm a great throw pillow. Whatever your doggo is up for, I can easily accommodate.

Availability

Right now, I'm fully free for any dog walking/sitting needs you might have. And if/when I pick up another gig, I'll give you plenty of notice. When I most recently did Rover (winter 2021), I had a 6 month window of walking then gave my owners a month notice. Some of them still send me pics of their dogs! Please note: my house sitting rate is $60/night, assuming I can come and go throughout the day, leaving your pet alone for 6-8 hours at a time. But if your pet needs care the entire day, then the rate is $100/day.
