Pet care experience
While I have cared for my personal pets for most of my life, I started working at a dog daycare and vet clinic several years ago. With this, I have experience taking care of dogs all day long, administering medication, helping with other medical needs, and most importantly, playing with pups of all shapes and sizes! I recently graduated from WSU with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences and started attending Portland Community College in 2018 to become a licensed veterinary nurse. Currently, I work at a veterinary clinic in Vancouver as a Veterinary Assistant. At home, I have one small dog (a chihuahua/beagle mix) that was a foster failure. Her name is Boots and she thinks she is a human, but she would probably say the best part about living with me is that she gets to romp around at the park and then come home to hours worth of snuggles! I also have two cats that are new to the family, so any dogs that come over must be cat-savvy.

Our Bronco is a very shy and cautious golden doodle who does NOT do well in a kennel atmosphere. I was happy when we found Mikayla. He warmed up to her very fast and was totally happy in her home. She sends updates and pictures the whole time she has him and makes sure he gets time outside at the park and walks. She is also very accommodating for drop off and pick up. The second time we left him he was so excited to see her again. She is amazing with animals and I would trust her with any dog.
Mikayla's just starting out in the business. But, her vet clinic experience, professionalism, warm heart and attention to details will serve her very well. She is cut out for this stuff! Our pet, Abby did well under her care, if not flourish. Reports of her playfulness and cooperation were previously rarely reported. Abby seemed to fit in with Mikayla's pack quite effortlessly. Although happy to see us upon pick up, she didn't seem quite sure she wanted to leave her new best friend, Mikayla.Now that is saying something! Lucky for Abby, AND us, they will be back together again soon for another short stay. We really appreciated updates, photos, prompt response to our inquiries for pick up, etc. Mikayla was knowledgeable on eldercare needs, knew what to look for and really genuine in her care of our pet. She's outstanding! So happy to be working with her now and in the future. THANK YOU!
Mikayla not only loves and cares for dogs, she also is phenomenal at training dogs and teaching them how to be the best dog that they can be. I know she is always willing to take on a challenge, so if you have a dog who needs a little more work on their manners or even walking on a leash, she is your sitter!
Mikayla is the true definition of a dog lover! This love of dogs has led her to many positions in animal clinics and shelters where she gained experience to go along with her passion. She has learned the proper way to care for animals and it shows. Your dog is in trusty hands with Mikayla and I highly recommend her if you want to be worry free while you're away.

Bully breeds are my favorite, but since I was raised with dachshunds all my life, they also hold a special place in my heart. I would like to know: - if there are any special needs your dog has, first and foremost; this includes medication, fears, reactivity/aggression concerns, allergies, etc. (anything that directly impacts the safety of your dog while in my care). Along with this, a medical contact (preferred vet hospital) would be very beneficial - Any preferences in terms of feeding time, toys, activities to be done with your dog, whether they are allowed on the bed or on furniture, etc. - Anything else you think is important for me to know about your pup!
A typical day
Walks, playtime, and snuggle time are a given with me, but I can also listen to owner preferences and try to accommodate. One of my favorite things to do is training, so if your dog needs a little training, or you simply want them to learn a new trick, I am up for the challenge!
