Two months ago I agreed to take care of my best friend Lisa's 100lb Cane Corso (and most precious thing in the world) named Cleo while she was away for 3 weeks on military duty. So when my little Chihuahua named Pasquale took a turn for the worst (he has a slipped disk in his neck and had been on steroids for months) I was worried sick, for him and Cleo. I've never heard of Rover, so I first explored many options including; doggy hotels, day care, boarding schools, and even contacting my vet and friends for referrals. I spent hours researching to no avail. Cleo is a very special furkid, and the care she required seemed unattainable in the short time span I had to find it, not to mention the budget at my disposal. The days passed and I began to loose hope, and that's when I discovered Rover. I found several candidates, and contacted them all. Mikayla responded within an hour and we set a meeting time for the following day. So during our meeting : Cleo seemed to have a very positive reaction to her instantly! we walked Cleo around the neighborhood (Mikayla holding the leash) and Cleo got much praise for being so obedient. Upon returning to the apartment I asked Mikaela to give Cleo a treat, and to my surprise she had Cleo follow 4 commands before giving it. Since I've contacted Mikayla: •She has promptly responded to my calls and texts, arrived early, patiently waiting in the parking lot. •She took time to explain her schedule; at the time studying for her finals, and •was very cooperative in communicating to set a schedule that met both our needs. Also, because she lives so close by she expressed willingness to stay flexible, which certainly eased my mind, knowing it wouldn't be a burden for her to stop by at least a few times a day & give Cleo walks if I needed extra care beyond out agreed upon schedule. Overall my impression of Mikayla at our first meeting was that she is very collected, disciplined, focused, easy going, young and optimistic, and very humble. Most importantly I could tell she had a passion for animals, interacting and keeping her focus on Cleo from begging to end of her visit, and Cleo also gave her the seal of approval. Mikayla was very interested in Cleo, through action, and not flattering words and gitty baby talk. She remained collected, respectfully asserting herself, which really showed me she understands the importance of her responsibilities, her job and place as Cleos guardian, and assured me that she won't be careless with Cleo. Needless to say I am beyond impressed with Mikayla, and so was my best friend without ever meeting her! My situation was tricky, unexpected, time sensitive, and unusual to say the least. So if Mikayla passed with flying colors in my circumstance, I have no doubt of her ability to go above and beyond caring for any type of furkid, and I will continue to recommend her to my friends and family!
