I absolutely ADORE dogs and have been in my own dog walking and dog nannying business for over 4 years. In total, I have worked with over 30 pups on the regular (some were for regular walks and other were for dog nannying over night). A lot of the dogs that I walked actually turned into overnight jobs varying anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks. I have worked with all sorts of dogs varying in age, size, breed, temperament, diet, and medical issues. I am home a lot and LOVE to work out and go for walks, so the pups always have had company and got the exercise that they deserved! Almost all of my dog families refer to me as “Aunty Kayla” and they contact me for anything dog related. I even take a lot of the dogs to their vet appointments and grooming sessions (a lot of them go to Fancy Pants on North Avenue and they know me by name in there!) Almost every holiday, I bake hundreds of allergy friendly (and gluten free) dog biscuits for all of my dog families. Working with dogs has truly been a blessing and it’s something I wish to pursue as a future career. I recently graduated college with a degree in biology and I’m hoping to become either a canine hydrotherapist, or a physical therapist for dogs. My family all work in the medical field and my brother even works at a vet’s office, so I have grown up in a family of knowledgeable dog lovers. One of the things I find most important about dog walking/dog nannying is sending pictures, videos, and updates to the families. I ALWAYS make sure to update the owners during every visit and also around the clock when I nanny a dog, which they all greatly appreciate! My time working with dogs has truly made me happier than I ever thought possible. Taking care of peoples’ beloved pups has allowed me to deeply connect with not only so many dogs, but also with their owners. National Dog Day was August 26th, and to celebrate I got my first tattoo, which of course was my own dog’s paw prints.
