Pet care experience
I grew up on a dairy farm where we also had goats, horses, pigs, and of course, cats and dogs! Off the farm, I’ve been dog and cat-sitting for family and friends for eight years. I’ve taken care of animals ranging from chihuahuas to pit bulls, puppies to seniors, and kittens to Maine Coons. Additionally, I have experience with animals with special needs and medical issues that require extra love and care.

Mikala has been taking care of my four cats in my absence for some time. Mikala's level of care gives me complete peace of mind that my pets are being cared for as I would. She is meticulous in ensuring that all aspects of their care including giving medications. I enthusiastically recommend Mikala!
Mikala was great! She stayed with our fur-baby who has diabetes and has to receive injection twice a day. The house was clean on our return and and our fur-baby was well taken care of. We will request her service's again.
We are truly fortunate to have Mikala house/pet sit our pack. After thoroughly discussing our multi-pet household (4 dogs and a bunny) along with the medical needs of one of our dogs (diabetic and lung issues), we felt confident Mikala was more than capable of handling everything our fur-babies needed. While we were away, if an issue came up, she didn’t hesitate to communicate with us to ensure our pets needs were met. She managed different care instructions for our dogs, bunny and house. Since Covid started we have been work from home, so our pack has become used to having someone in the house the majority of the day. With Mikala able to work remote from anywhere, she happily set up her work space on the sofa while one of our dogs was able to snuggled right up to her, just as if we were home! Getting photos and updates gave us the piece of mind our fur-babies were getting the best care! Oh and the icing on the cake, Mikala left our house tidy and clean! All I can say is WOW, what a gem!! We would definitely recommend booking with Mikala!!

While I cannot do boarding, I do a thorough visit with the owner(s) before sitting. I have a detailed checklist of items to ensure I cover the safety and well-being of your pets. Updates and pictures are provided as frequently as you would like-I try to make sure you can enjoy your time away while also keeping you informed of how your pet(s) are doing.

During my initial visit, it's helpful to know any special dietary needs, medications they're taking, and any triggers the dogs may have (i.e., kids). Veterinary information and emergency contacts are also vital in the rare chance of an emergency. If you have pet insurance, a copy of the insurance information is helpful to have on-hand as well.
A typical day
Rain or shine, I'll engage your dogs in lots of fun activities to keep them active and happy. We'll play catch, tug-of-war, and go on walks at nearby parks. Depending on your dog's comfort level, we can explore the local dog parks and play with other pups as well.

Availability
I work remotely during the week and sometimes work on Saturdays and Sundays at a second-job, but have lots of flexibility with my mostly remote schedule. I can stop by multiple times a day if needed and am more than happy to do overnight stays if you feel comfortable.
