In my home we believe that animals are part of the family. I have always been an animal lover and I have two kids ages 4 and 7 who also love animals. The animals that I watch are treated the same way all animals should be treated. Like family. I give lots of snuggles and positive reinforcement to reward good behavior. I make sure to walk and play at the animals level to ensure they feel safe, comfortable but also get some exercise. The past 4 summers I have organized a small hiking group for people who's dogs enjoy being outdoors, but don't have the time to take the hikes themselves. The dogs always enjoy it and come home tired and ready for a nap. If the dogs get too dirty I do bathe them and make sure they come back to your home looking and smelling fresh.
