Animal loving veterinary nurse!

Pet care experience

Taking care of our furry four legged friends is one of the most rewarding things in the world. I came to this conclusion by learning how to love dogs at a young age. Growing up in an apartment that did not allow pets left me feeling empty because all I ever wanted was a dog. The first dog I have ever met was my cousin’s dog, Bridget, a Bichon Frise. Whenever my family and I visited my cousins, I was always so excited to see Bridget. Bridget was a super fluffy dog with beautiful brown eyes. She always had the best puppy energy. She was the kind of dog that easily stole your heart because of how sweet she was. Whenever I got the chance to spend time with Bridget, we would always go on walks, give her treats and belly rubs, play catch and tug of war, run around with her, give her a bath, and made sure she had food and water. Doing these activities taught me to be caring and loving at a young age. All dogs and cats deserves to be loved and cared for. My experience with pets range from housesitting for family members, working for a dog and cat boarding hotel, getting my first job at an animal hospital, and finally moving on to a emergency and specialty hospital. I was employed as a pet handler with The Pawington. The Pawington is a dog and cat hotel that offers boarding, day care, and grooming. As a pet handler: I facilitated small dog daycare groups, cleaned and sanitized group play areas and suites, assess basic healthcare for incoming boarders, prepare and distribute daily meals for boarders. Currently, I am employed as a veterinary assistant with Sage Veterinary Centers for Specialty and Emergency Care. Previously, I worked for VCA Animal Hospitals. As an employee at Sage and VCA animal hospitals: I assist veterinarians by performing numerous duties such as walking patients, animal restraint, acquiring histories from pet owners, collecting patient vitals, venipunture, cystocentesis, intravenous catheter placement, administering oral, subcetaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications, vaccine administration, assist with emergency procedures.

Michelle was fantastic! She brought her professional expertise in the veterinary field to the job. My dog wasn't the easiest to walk and she kindly and patiently spent a lot of time and energy on gaining her trust. She provided very thorough updates and took the extra time to troubleshoot my dog's issues with me over the phone. She communicated consistently, providing detailed information in response to my questions and concerns. Michelle's diligence and care put my mind at ease - I knew my dog would be in good hands while I was away!
