I'm gentle, firm, empathetic, and set clear boundaries. I use positive reinforcement, such as treats, vocabulary for dogs, firm boundaries, crate only when necessary, etc. Absolutely no hitting, smacking, screaming, etc. I trained my parents dog vocabulary during walks words such as "sidewalk", "wait ","left /right", "whoa", etc. He also was trained on leash to walk with me with enough slack to be comfortable. I want to provide your fur legged friend a nurturing environment that allows them to settle, calm down and not be nervous or lonely. I will push them a little every day I take them on walks to go a little further or faster, assuming they're not used to going on regular walks. I'll make sure to remember water for them, as well as treats, and of course their leash and collar/harness.
