Dogs are my people

Pet care experience

So happy you found us!!!! IMPORTANT NOTE: Unless there are extenuating circumstances, such as you are traveling to here, from out of town, or you have an emergency, or your pupper is a baby under 4-months-old, I require a MEET & GREET before your kiddo's first stay with us- to assess temperament and fit, and for us to chat about your sweetie’s needs. You are welcome in our home, or I can meet you at your home or a dog park near our home. It’s hard for us to accommodate NEW guest stays within short notice. If you are new to ROVER and there is no stay history for your pup, a, “Meet & Greet” is a must to make sure your baby will be happy with us. I also require a copy of baby’s up-to-date vaccinations and an emergency contact. Your dog will become part of our family while they are with us. I will always let you know, in advance, if I need to be away from home for an event during your stay request. I run errands and we have a normal life schedule, but I'm mostly here unless I have an event, which you will know about in advance. We provide potty breaks, enrichment activities and exercise. When the weather is nice, our favorite thing to do is explore the neighborhood or walk around the back property looking for squirrels. Our guests are welcome to lounge on the furniture during the day and snuggle with us on the bed at night. (Unless you don’t want them to). If they're crate trained, like Emmett (and it fits), we put their crate in the bedroom with us. If it's giant, we put those crates in the main foyer. Everyone is treated like part of our extended family while they are in our home, and we make sure that everyone feels included and safe at all times. I provide text/photo/video updates as often as you require, but at least once per day. I have cared for dogs that need oral medicine, shots, skincare, assistance getting up and around, or adhering to special diets. If your sweetie has a special need, we can chat about how to best care for them while they're here. Is your dog a puppy or a newly adopted sweetie? Puppies need extra attention, love, and reinforcement (and lots of paper towels). We L-O-V-E puppies and will be delighted to help you with potty, or behavioral training needs. If your baby is under 2 years old and is not 100 % potty trained, I charge the puppy rate. If they are potty pad training, you will need to provide two pads per day during their stay with us. For the young puppies, I set my alarm, to wake us up during the night, to take them out an every three hours. <GUESTS BEST SUITED FOR OUR HOME> NO BARKY MCBARKY PUPS BEYOND THE NORMAL. (Excessive anxiety babies that need extra attention, are not a good fit here. ) NO MALE DOGS that might potentially mark on furniture. (If you are unsure if your un-neutered male dog might mark on our furniture, he’s not a good match for our home.) Dogs best suited for our home and family: 1- Well socialized pups that enjoy making other dog friends 2- Older dogs that like to snooze 3- Little dogs that need cuddling and like to snuggle 4- Must be potty-trained for outside or use pads inside.... unless they are still a puppy. If so, we are happy to help with potty training while they are our guests. 5- It doesn't matter how big or small (We LOVE THEM ALL), but puppers who fit best with us will not be super high energy spazmatazes that never calm down... and will understand basic commands and listening skills. :-) OUR PUPPERS: Olivia, our chihuahua mix, loves meeting new friends. She's a tiny 6 lb little thing who has an aversion to walking on wood floors, so she's usually ruling the house from the chair or couch...or jumping from bed to bed. You are special if she jumps down to meet you. She will seem bossy at first, but many people comment that she's the sweetest little diva they know. Emmett is a 14lb, 4-year-old mini dachshund and we think he's perfect. He's friendly, well-socialized, and is not intimidated by dogs of any size. If your pup loves to play, they will become Emmett's new best friend. He has friends as big as Great Dane and as little as 2lb Yorkie. So far he's been great with everyone. Ida is a 9lb, 7-year-old, mini dachshund. She is new to our family and has been with us since May of 2023. She's also super friendly with other pups, but we are learning new things about her every day!

Michelle was AMAZING! We would not hesitate to use her again the next time we go out of town. As soon as I met her and her adorable fur babies, I knew that our sweet puppy would be in excellent hands. Our 1-year old puppy loves to play, and she had blast playing with the other dogs. Michelle sent us daily video updates, which my kids especially enjoyed. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing that our puppy was having her own vacation with Michelle. Thank you, Michelle, for spoiling our little girl!

We can add a daycare fee if you need extra time. :-) I will ask that you text me when you are 30 minutes away from dropping off or picking up. NORMAL PICK UP TIME: Anytime between 9 am and 11 am. CURRENT SHOTS & FLEA TREATMENT: Our kids are current with their shots and are on flea control. Our yard is treated for fleas. We require that your kid be up-to-date with shots, according to their age, arrive clean and flea-free. :-)

A typical day

Stella May (who is now our most beloved Golden Retriever angel fur-baby) and I attended obedience training the first year of her life through PetSmart. Several of my now Fur-Angels and I also attended training programs via kennel clubs in Florida. I share this with you so you know that I am sensitive and responsive to various training commands and techniques and can support your training efforts while your kid is a guest in our home. Our crew is on a morning and evening eating schedule. When the weather is agreeable, we try to fit in 2 walks per day, in a 1-mile loop around the neighborhood. We also have 1.5 acres behind our home, including a creek in which to splash around (with your permission). During the summer when it's really hot, or WINTER, when it's really cold, we plan walks and exercise accordingly. Some days we choose to just be lazy... and sit around eating treats or knawing on toys. Jay and I don't have human children - our dogs ARE our canine children. They are our family. Their safety and well-being is our top priority. All guests in our home will be treated with respect, compassion, and love. That's just how we roll.
