Dog loving Veterinary Assistant!

Pet care experience

My name is Michelle, I'm new to NH Florida where I worked in a daycare/ boarding facility and as a Veterinary Assistant. I have experience with both in and out of home pet care, as well as in boarding and kenneling facilities. I have experience handling, feeding, medicating, walking, and exercising dogs of ALL breeds and sizes. I am not deterred by breeds labeled as "aggressive" or animals requiring "experienced handlers" as I am calm and confident with my abilities to provide appropriate care. I myself have a large breed rescue dog. I am able to determine what works for different personalities, and will participate accordingly. If your dog likes a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood taking time to sunbathe and sniff every scent along the way, that is more than fine. If your dog is more of the type who would prefer to do his/her business quickly and enjoy letting out energy on a 30+ minute jog, that is fine as well! As for those pups who can't quite seem to decide on the perfect spot for their potty, no worries! We can wander and explore together. Whatever experience is best suited to your dog's individual needs is the experience I look to provide. I take pride in ensuring the animal will continue to obey their house rules, and for those actively participating in training, I am willing to reinforce skills during my visits and maintain your pet's routine. No two dogs have identical needs, and I am here to make sure that while you're away your pet is still having their best possible day! An exercised, fulfilled dog is a good dog as they say, and I look forward to providing your pet with the freedom to be a dog and enjoy their time while you're away.

Michelle was very communicative and accommodating. Champ enjoyed his stay judging by the daily pic updates. I would recommend Michelle for anyone staying in the area that needs an overnight dogsitter.

Great communication. Walter looked so happy on all his walks. I’d definitely book again.

Michelle was great with our American Staff., Peaches! She was able to help us on short notice with drop-in visits over a long weekend. They bonded immediately and I can tell Michelle gave Peaches all the great care and affection she needed, and then some! Loved getting all the great pictures and details during each check-in, too.

I can not say enough about Michelle and the quality of sitting service she provided me. My two boys loved her immediately! Which was very important to me. What I love and greatly appreciated was her exceptional attitude in being responsible in the communication and pics - I received from her surrounding the overnight care of my two boys. I have two Italian greyhounds that also require running for at least 30 min to 1 hr a couple times a day that she fullfilled without hesition and to a tee of what they required. Additionally, my two boy dogs had unique feeding and care / routine requirements that she was skilled in providing and again without hesitation. Her love for dogs shines through in her ' I can do that' for them attitude. After interviewing several sitters it was obvious to me that she was the clear choice in all my sitting needs.

Information Michelle K. would like to know about your pet

I have no breed preferences. I have worked closely with pit bulls, German shepherds, Dobermans, and other breeds which have been labeled as aggressive breeds. If your dog falls into the BSL of an "aggressive breed" do not worry, that does not matter to me. If you have a giant breed I have experienced working with true giants such as Great Danes and Saint Bernards, and the size does not deter me. I would like to know a bit about your pet ahead of time, including any potential causes for aggression I would need to look out for. As an example, if you know your pet does not enjoy passing another pet on their walk, please inform me ahead of time so I can be diligent in making sure we cross the street far before any greetings to avoid any potentially stressful situations for your pet. If your pet has negative habits or behaviors I am capable and willing to work around them, all that I ask is that you provide me with any information you feel is necessary for me to best provide care to your pet. *if you feel your pet is poorly behaved, be honest so I can best assist them. I am not here to judge, and I will not turn away a client based off of manners, training gaps, etc.* All pets deserve quality care.

A typical day

When caring for a dog that is unfamiliar with me, it is important to me that the dog has the comfort of their own home, to ease the stress of being in the temporary care of a stranger. Activities depend on the dog's individual likes and dislikes, but my style ranges from a relaxed companion to an active one- which would include walks, adventures, and lots of playing with their favorite toys. My style adjusts accordingly for the comfort of the individual dog as well as to the preference of the owner. If your neighborhood has a fenced dog park your pet prefers, we can go there. If your pet has a certain route they enjoy around the neighborhood, just let me know, and we will go there. I can change things up and take your pet on "new adventures" or maintain current routines. As far as activities, I enjoy engaging with the pet and keeping their minds active as well.
