Reliable Graduate Pharmacy Student

Pet care experience

Covid-19 Update: I am fully vaccinated against covid and I test weekly through Northeastern. Though I am able to do both visits and housesitting, as I am on pharmacy rotations, I may not be fully available during the day for housesitting. Please feel free to contact me so we can discuss a housesitting plan. Drop-ins can easily be worked around my schedule. Hi, I'm Michelle! Thanks for checking out my profile. I serve the Mission Hill, Brookline, Longwood, Fenway, Northeastern, Lower Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, Back Bay, Chinatown, South End, and Columbus areas. Background: At my home state in high school, I used to care for and walk my neighbor's dogs when they were away. After moving to Boston for Pharmacy School, Rover was the perfect opportunity for me to continue working with animals. Characteristics: I have an upbeat, positive attitude, and I am professional and easy to work with. When your pet is with me, I make every effort to provide the best possible care. I am extremely fast and reliable when communicating to best put your mind at ease while you're away. I take care instructions very seriously and do my best to fulfill any requests you may have, whether it's taking a lot of pictures, helping pets up and down stairs, or using certain techniques to best interact with them. As a pharmacy major, I understand the importance of giving meds accurately and on time. (I also send lots of photos, because in pharmacy, if you didn't document it, it didn't happen!) As a devoted animal lover, I learned Dog CPR and First Aid to best prepare for any dog/cat emergency. Pets are members of the family, and I would treat them as though they were my own. In addition, I take up to two clients per day to ensure proper care and timely arrivals (excluding holidays as I don't have class). Transportation: My preferred route of transportation is biking, so I request that your location is within 3 miles from me. Dog Walking + Pet Drop ins: I would love to walk your dogs through my neighborhood and its parks. If your pet is active and prefers jogging, I am able to provide that as well. In addition, engaging both cats and dogs with their favorite toys is fun for both me and the pets! Housesitting: Your home will be treated with the utmost respect, and I do my best to keep it clean and tidy. At bare minimum, my rate includes 2 walks, an extra potty break, and an overnight stay. Since I have no dependents and only take 2 clients at a time (excluding holidays), I am able to spend more time at your home throughout the day. This is usually (but not guaranteed) at least 16 hours a day and my pricing reflects that. I may leave for several hours at a time to go to class, the gym, work part time, and run errands. Though rare and will be discussed in advance, adjustments in pricing will be made for days I am unavailable during most of the day. In addition, hourly care pricing can be discussed depending on the circumstances, but I am unable to provide 24 hour care. Thus, I would not be the best fit if you are looking for care for a puppy who needs potty breaks every hour. I am also happy to do additional tasks such as watering plants, collecting mail, and bringing out the garbage. More about me: Other work experience: I currently work part time (mostly Saturdays) at a hospital in Boston. I used to work at Boston Medical Center, as a science teacher at a summer camp, and a calculus and biology tutor. Campus life: I am a P4 sixth year Pharmacy student at Northeastern University. I'm currently doing online rotations and am not on campus. I'm the treasurer of NCPA, a professional pharmacy club. I'm also a competitive powerlifter and enjoy lifting at my school's gym.

Michelle did a great job checking in with my cat Ciao and taking care of her while I was gone. The photos she sent gave me great peace of mind that Ciao was in good hands —I’ll definitely be asking Michelle to check on her the next time I’m out of town!

Michelle was lovely to work with and was a great communicator. I have a camera set up while I’m away and from the few clips I saw, she is a real pet whisperer. My typically shy vision-impaired cat loved her! Michelle even went above and beyond and swept the floor near the litter box. I will absolutely be working with Michelle again and I highly recommend her to any first-time Rover pet parents.

Information Michelle G. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know how your dog tends to interact with other dogs, pets, and people. What does your pet like and dislike? Are there any health conditions or behavioral issues I should be aware of? Do they have separation anxiety? I would also like to know more about your pet's personality so I can be prepared when I meet them.

A typical day

Some go to activities that I enjoy for dogs are tug of war, fetch, teaching tricks, and giving lots of snuggles, treats, and attention! Depending on the dog's activity level, I am happy to walk or jog them. I love visiting cats as well! I give lots of head scratches and pets, as well as brush them. If they are shy or do not like being pet, I engage them with toys like laser pointers, cat chasers, and crinkle balls. During housesits, when I'm not engaged with your pet, I spend most of my time studying for my pharmacy classes. Many of my fur clients enjoy curling up next to me for moral support (and as cute distractions). I enjoy taking photos of my clients and providing you updates each visit for peace of mind. Housesitting clients will receive updates twice daily. Some photos of my clients can be viewed on my profile (posted with owner permission).
