I've volunteered for humane societies for the past three years, fostering dogs, transporting animals to and from various shelters and clinics, and photographing humane society events as well as animals up for adoption. Most recently, I fostered and rehabilitated a sweet baby girl named Lena with Dallas Pets Alive. Lena was severely emaciated, heartworm positive and very withdrawn when I picked her up from Dallas Animal Services. While in my care, she underwent heartworm treatment, spay surgery and improved her overall body condition. Now Lena is living happily with her forever family right on a lake in Flower Mound. Fostering high-risk dogs is one of the most rewarding, challenging experiences, and I highly recommend it to any animal lover who can spare a little space in their heart and home. During my time as a writer for a local news outlet, I conceptualized and carried out a recurring "Pet of the Week" feature story on adoptable animals in nearby shelters. Additionally, I wrote stories drawing attention to animal cruelty cases throughout the region to bring those guilty to justice. I'm passionate about animal welfare and find working with animals to be incredibly rewarding. Lastly, and most importantly, I've had dogs all my life and can't wait to get to know your fur baby! I will spoil him/her as much as you will allow. :-)
