High Energy Dogs Welcome!

Pet care experience

I have been a pet owner since a very young age. I have experience administering medications, monitoring post surgery incisions, attending to hot spots, ear infections and the minor scrapes our pups experience from time to time. During the summers I am home all day except two mornings a week for a few hours to attend summer classes, so your pet will have steady human supervision in addition to my dog's company. Outdoors: My home offers a large, safe, fenced back yard with many areas of shaded grass, a sprinkler when it's hot, and all the space a pup could need to play and run. All the flower areas are fenced off so your dog has free access to play without any worries of chewing plants which may cause digestive upset. There is also a large dog door that will accommodate a dog up to 110 lbs so your dog is free to come and go as they need. If your pup is larger, which is fine by me, we'll go outside the old fashioned way. Walks and Hikes: I have a high energy doberman who is the resident greeter of all things two or four legged. We both welcome four-legged company, especially on all of our walks and hikes. We like to get out often, so bring your preferred harness or collar! Crate training and Sleep: I also offer an extra-large kennel on site if your pup is crate training and continuity is needed overnight, or as you request. It can be size adjusted to accommodate one or two pets according to owner preference. If not, we have a designated dog chair and extra large dog beds throughout the house for naps and night time rest. Getting along with the Natives: My dog is a high energy girl and loves to play. My home is set up to accommodate serious cases of the zoomies! If your dog is a high energy pooch you found your place! If your dog is a lower energy or older dog who prefers more quiet please let me know so I can make him or her as comfortable as possible. My dog will understand, and we do have calm spaces for our quieter dog friends.

I'm so glad I found Michele through Rover. Michele was so sweet with Lily and took such good care of her. I was worried, as Lily is an older dog who has recently had some health challenges. But Michele was wonderful about checking in with me at least once a day and keeping an eye on her symptoms as well as sending me updates and pictures of the fun things Lily got to do during the day. I felt completely assured that Lily was very well taken care of and would recommend Michele to anyone.

I decided to book with Michelle after her service description included specializing in high energy dogs. I have a chocolate lab, a popular & well know breed for both their high energy & need for play. Michelle assured me that she has worked with high energy dogs in the past & owns one herself. Her service description included taking these dogs on hikes, runs, and dog parks. Upon dropping my dog off with Michelle, she answered the door & only allowed my dog to enter. She told me that she would update me at least 2x a day & closed the door, overall not permitting me to enter her home. I was a little uneasy about not being able to see where my dog was staying but pushed passed my gut feeling. After initially receiving a picture update of a different dog from Michelle (I was unaware that she would be boarding other dogs as she assured me that it was only my dog and hers) I finally received an update of my dog playing with her toys in her backyard at 8pm. Michelle also spoke of my dog showcasing some aggression, something she has NEVER done. Worried, I asked her to update me as the night went on, which she did not. At 11pm I double messaged her asking for an update with no reply. At 2am in the morning Michele messaged me to not only let me know that she was unable to further care for my dog because of her high energy, but that she had “petted her, given her toys, & snacks to calm her” all things that will NOT calm a hyper dog. My lab was not given any type of activity to expel her energy; none of the services Michelle described were done. Michelle sounded not only anxious but discombobulated. I distressingly began to realize that she was extremely unexperienced in caring for “high energy” dogs. I spoke with my boyfriend at 2am (while we were both at work and planning to travel out of town at 6am )about picking up our dog as soon as possible as we were both equally concerned about our labs safety. Michelle then informed me that she would not be refunding my 2 day boarding purchase even though she only had my dog for 12/48 hours. Upon picking up our dog,my boyfriend and I saw that she was also caring for a large number of other dogs during our session. We immediately called Rover customer support the next day regarding not only the gross incompetence of our lab, but Michelle’s refusal to blatantly refund us for unused services. The best part of my experience was how supportive the Rover team was in not only refunding me my payment, but apologizing on behalf of the sitter & my terrible first experience. Overall it’s very important to know what dogs you are able to care for. We were stressed, overwhelmed, and very upset over having to change well planned travel plans within 3 hours of leaving. Based off our experience we will not be booking with Michelle ever again, & greatly caution others who plan on doing so as well.

Very dog friendly environment. Loved that she had a doggie door. Our dog was sad to leave!

Please let me know how to make your dog feel the most at home and comfortable. Things that may be considered: Preferred resting places and schedule Meal times Food and/or toy agression Energy level Most enjoyed activities Does your dog dig and/or escape enclosed spaces? Does your dog need to be reminded to drink water or slow down and cool off during play? Mine does! So let me know so we can take rest breaks! What types of walks or runs can your dog comfortably and happily participate in? ( We often go for runs at my house and like to include the pack, but if this is an uncomfortable or strenuous exercise for your buddy please let us know so we can adjust our exercise type.)

A typical day

We like to walk daily around the Marina, hiking trails or the neighborhood, play in the sprinklers and play ball in the back yard.
