Dog lovers looking for dogs to love
Pet care experience
My wife and I had a dog (a pug named Petunia) for 13 years until she passed away in 2016. She was loved greatly and is still very much missed. We had one very young daughter at the time Petunia died and have since had two more kids, all of whom love dogs. We haven't adopted a new dog yet, but we are considering the idea as soon as within the next year. I thought this might be a great way to care for pups and show the kids what it takes to be a good dog caregiver while giving the house the joy of having dogs around until we are ready to adopt.

Thank you, Michael and family! Our two pups came back so exhausted after playing and going for walks over the long weekend. This was our first time using Rover and we have never boarded our dogs (they usually stay with family) so we were nervous leaving them. Michael sent photos and reassuring messages that they were doing great. Our dogs love kids and his kiddos gave them way more attention than they’re used to. I have never seen our corgi so pooped - in the best way. If he will take our dogs again, we will use him! Bonus: Michael happens to live in our neighborhood.
Our dogs spent a weekend with Michael and his family. We got sweet photos of them, and updates. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I think they got more snuggles and attention while staying here than at home. Our girls don't go places often in their older age, so knowing that Michael only accepts one client at a time was huge for us.
My dog, Pippi, stayed with Michael and his family for the day. Michael was very responsive, so it was easy to set up the stay as well as a quick meet-and-greet beforehand. His three kids were excited to meet Pip, but I could also see that they have been taught how to be around dogs. The day went well, and we have already booked a longer stay for December.
Michael and family were wonderful! Treated my girl just like their own beloved dog. Highly recommend!

We have a fenced-in yard and also are comfortable having dogs in our house. We would prefer to keep dogs off of furniture, but exceptions can be made in the case of snuggling!

We do have three small children (8, 5 and 2) who are avid dog-lovers, but any dog we watched on the weekends, evenings or overnights would need to be good with kids.
A typical day
I am a very active person, so I would take your dog on at least one long walk per day in addition to shorter ones. We live in a dog-friendly neighborhood with access to a lot of good trails and green spaces.

Availability
I work full-time, but I have a lot of flexibility to work in a remote setting and I work from our house most days. I'm also very active and love the idea of taking a dog on whatever length walk you want. On nights/weekends we are generally around. When we leave the house, it's not typically for more than a few hours because of nap schedules and other factors. We also have a fenced-in backyard that is very well-suited for a dog, weather-permitting.
