A happy dog is a tired dog.

Pet care experience

I have never known a house without a dog in it. I grew up with Airedale Terriers and my siblings and I all begged to get a Rottweiler also. Part of the deal was that we had to do all the work. Feed, walk, play with her and most importantly, pick up the dog dirt. So we convinced my parents to get our Emma. I could not get enough of her. I knew dogs were always going to be a huge part of my life. Those were family dogs though and I wanted my own hound. A month after I moved out of my parents at age 18 I went and got a Yellow Labrador. Best decision ever. Indi turned out to be one of a kind. She received her Canine Good Citizen and we took every single training class because we both enjoyed it so much. I also got a black Labrador named Bella to keep her company. One cannot have too many dogs. Alas, dogs just don't live long enough so my wife and I decided to rescue a dog from Reno. Success! Our next dog, Zydeco, was very shy, timid and nippy. We gave her a warm bed and lots of love and she became such a magnificent animal. I enjoyed rescuing her so much and was so happy about how much success we had I wanted to try out fostering dogs. Lucky for me our town has a wonderful no kill shelter that needed some help. I have fostered almost forty dogs of all ages and sizes. I have taken in pairs of rambunctious puppies while they waited to be fixed plus other dogs that were older and just needed a place to stay for a week because they were showing signs of kennel anxiety. Fostering is how I came to meet my latest pup, Kaya. I I have A LOT of experience with Cattle dogs who are mouthy/nippy and potty training lots and lots of puppies. I also shine in taking care of our senior dogs and am well versed in administering all kinds of meds. I also know how to give the shy dogs their time and space and allow them to flourish and learn. Dogs are a way of life for me. Everyday is a play day when you have a four legged friend. I only work part time so my schedule is super flexible to suit most needs. My hounds are very friendly and love having company or going on a pack walk. I have a fenced yard on an acre and our two dogs love the room to romp. I crate trained my Kaya so I can do the same with your dog or they can have their bed in the living room right next to the couch for convenient pettings. I enjoy working on new tricks with dogs also. It's amazing what you can get a dog to do for a tasty treat.

Michael was a great baby sitter for my dog Jasper! He was super responsible and sent me pictures of him during the day, going on walks and playing with the other dogs. I could see that Jasper was having a great time!

Michael was warm and friendly and took the time to read Duffy’s bio before we got to his house. He sent photos during the day which I really appreciate! Duffy seemed to enjoy his time with Michael and his dogs!

Safety, trust & environment

We have a spacious dog-proof living room for the hounds to romp around in, and it's large enough for them to relax on dog beds on the sidelines when they want to chill out. We also have a fenced in yard with a deck for time outside soaking up the sun when we are not enjoying leashed walks. For boarding dogs that require feeding, we section off spaces for them to eat separately to avoid confrontation.

Information Michael C. would like to know about your pet

I would like to address any issues or concerns a customer may have about their pups. If there are any diet restrictions/food allergies, or age or injury related exercise limits. How the customers dog reacts to other animals or if they have a prey drive.

A typical day

We take leashed pack walks around our low traffic (no outlet) neighborhood. Within the fenced yard, I love playing fetch and working on tricks for treats. A good mental workout is great for dogs too.
