Have Fun! Give your dog C.R.E.D.
Pet care experience
My name is Melony Long and I have been formally training in the Northern Nevada area for a year and a half for non-profits and private clients alike. An animal, like a child, isn't inherently bad, but without the proper introduction to the world bad decisions can be made and those decisions often lead them to the shelter. My job is to think creatively for each individual dog to ensure both the family or rescue and dog are fulfilled and able to communicate appropriately. I offer normal dog walking, grooming, bathing, boarding, and potential training sessions to all Rover clients. I own a dog training business while also working as the head dog trainer for our local rescue, Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation, and love to work with new dogs of all ages and sizes. What is C.R.E.D.? Connection, Respect, Engagement, Direction, all of which lead to a balanced and well rounded canine companion.
Reviews
I can’t begin to tell you how fantastic Melony is! Our dog is very senior and very high maintenance! It took a couple of days for him to warm up, but they were friends after that! She had to apply medicine to his pubic area which isn’t easy, and sh managed to do it every day! What a gem we hav found!!!
Melony has been very helpful in answering any questions about dog behavior and she has a business training dogs so I feel confident in the advice she gives. She’s been walking our girls and working on their leash politeness and we couldn’t be more appreciative.
Melody was fantastic ?
Melony is fantastic she went above and beyond to take care of our dogs went the extra mile . Sent photos , updates and status reports, highly recommended.

The sanctuary has a six foot wood fence around the perimeter where the dogs will reside in addition to three fully fenced exercise yards. All of our dog kennels are constructed with metal doors, dog doors with sliding guillotines, and private dog runs. Each kennel and yard are cleaned daily to ensure the animals are kept in the cleanest conditions possible and to reduce flies. We use Rescue as our main cleaning solution. All of the kennels are temperature controlled and each dog will be fed accordingly based on owner request. Relaxing or playing in my home is sometimes an option for daycare or boarding clients. If your dog goes inside, they will have a dog door, air conditioning, heating, kennels of all sizes, and baby gates throughout the house to assist in separation of needed. The dogs also have their own kennel room to retire for the evening or when the house is getting to exciting.

Information Melony L. would like to know about your pet
I would love to know any quirks such as reactivity with other dogs, humans, or health concerns. I am great with medications and working through behavioural problems, but only if I know about them first. We have the ability to house aggressive and reactive dogs if they pass our initial meet and greet, but this only works if we are all on the same page with personality, likes, dislikes, triggers, and quirks.
A typical day
I previously lived in downtown Carson City, but I was recently fortunate enough to move out to a huge property in Stagecoach, NV where my dogs and all boarding, daycare, and additional client dogs will be able to rip, roar, and play in the fully fenced acre of land! There are miles of walking trails directly behind the sanctuary along with Lake Lahontan a mere 25 minutes away for wet and dry adventures to meet every weather we see. The dogs will spend their day playing in the backyards, going on stimulating sniffy walks, enjoying mental enrichment, chasing a lure course, running on our treadmill, among many other engaging activities, but we haven’t forgotten down time! The pups will have access to an air conditioned and heated kennels with indoor and outdoor access to allow the ability to go whenever they get the urge. Some of our kennels also have a roof option for those escape artists that try to create their own boundaries. We are currently in the process of building additional cabins on site where dogs would have their own independent cabin to reside in while also enjoying a spacious yard. We hope to finish these and add them to our list of services in early 2023!

Availability
I currently live and work at the Wylie Animal Rescue Foundation Sanctuary in Stagecoach, NV while also running my dog training business. I have most of my training clients in Carson City, but only leave the sanctuary for about four hours max to meet with clients a few days a week. Most of my days will be spent enriching the sanctuary dogs, my personal dogs, and any pups that find their way into my care for the day or longer!
