Hi there! Caring for animals has always been a deep rooted passion of mine. I've been petsitting for over 15 years and working with animals professionally for over 11 years. I've worked as a marine mammal biologist/trainer/rescue and rehabilitator; veterinary assistant; kennel attendant in a pet boarding facility; and as a volunteer at a parrot/small exotics animal sanctuary. Having worked with such a broad array of animals (from teacup Yorkies, to parakeets, to 130lb rottweilers, to a 3500lb walrus), I am comfortable caring for animals of all shapes, sizes, species, and temperaments. You can rest assured that I will provide attentive, loving, enriching care for your pets, in addition to being a respectful caretaker for your home. Melissa is absolutely amazing. She went above and beyond every step of the way and didn’t flinch when met with the challenges of our motley crew. From multiple meet-and-greets where she walked laps with me around our backyard to help our “feral/hoarding rescue” dog acclimate, to learning how to feed our little pup missing 3/4 of his bottom jaw, to laying out towels to ensure no one gets frozen paws in the frigid cold, to snow blowing/sweeping our front steps in -10F weather, all without being asked, she is 1 in a million! To top it all off she sent countless photos of all three of our pups that rival the best photos we’ve ever taken of them!
Melissa was amazing with our fur babies! She took wonderful care of them and our house. She sent us pictures and updates, so we never had to worry. We will definitely be using Melissa's services again!
Melissa was very communicative and great with our 2 anxious dogs and sweet cat! She left our house clean and dogs and cat were very happy!!
Melissa was a great sitter for our three boys. Even better that she works with animals professionally. She took time with each dog individually to give them attention how they prefer. She also kept us up to date on any issues, like when our oldest two dogs got a little aggressive towards each other due to their anxiety. She also followed up with us after we had returned from our trip to check on the dog that was nipped. We plan to contact her again when the need arrives.

Are they on any medication? Do they have activity restrictions? Can they walk up and down stairs? Are they hesitant with strangers? Are they leash reactive to dogs/people/cars while out on walks? Are they escape artists, waiting to break free as soon as the door opens and lead a life of unfettered adventure? No detail is too small when it comes to the safety of your pets and those around them.
A typical day
Enrichment and engaging animals in fun, stimulating activities is something I am truly passionate about. Depending on your pets' personality, needs, and health status, I'll tailor our playtimes to suit their needs and what they enjoy. Whether it's a hike, walking through a local park, scavenger hunts for toys or treats, a fun training session, a game of fetch, tug of war, playing with bubbles, chasing each other in the yard, or 30 minutes straight of butt scratches and ear rubs, my goal is to keep your pet healthy, safe, and happy!

Availability
I work full time Monday through Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm or 8:30am-5:00pm, depending on my shift. My time outside of work, though, is dedicated to your pets and providing them with love, care, and enrichment.
