I am a long-time dog lover who grew up surrounded by dogs of all ages, sizes, and breeds, though I am particularly fond of the larger breeds. I have many years' experience with the instincts and temperaments of Labrador Retrievers, large shepherd and herding dogs, as well as poodles and toy breeds. I have significant experience with obedience and service dog training, and have trained dogs to do all kinds of tasks, from the basic "sit," "stay," "come," etc., to more complicated tasks like nudging, medical alerting, deep pressure therapy, public access manners, and more. Under the guidance of a professional, licensed dog trainer, I have trained my own medical alert service dog, an amazing Lab named Berenger who brings joy and assistance to my life. I have dog and house-sat consistently for years, and there's nothing I love more than taking the dogs under my care up for hikes on the Blue Ridge Parkway, walks around downtown Asheville and Beaver Lake, up for swims in the waterfalls at Hot Springs, and having a good snuggle together after a fun-filled day of adventure and fresh air. I work at the beautiful and historic Biltmore Estate, and have access to over 25 miles of hiking trails on the estate, which is a wonderful spot for taking clients' dogs out for hikes, relaxing walks, and even a dip in the French Broad River if your pooch is a water dog! My preference is house sitting in the client's home, providing the best love and care possible for their animals, but I am also available for drop in visits and walking, and I have very flexible availability, so just let me know what you are needing and I will be happy to accommodate you! I have experience taking care of dogs and cats, as well as general house care like collecting mail, tending gardens, and light housework. One of my specialties is senior dogs, as I have various experience with older dogs who require special medications, supplements, etc. My dog saved my life, and I give him the best love and care possible--I hope to have the opportunity to give that same love and care to your furry best friends.

Melissa is a fabulous and reliable petsitter. She has been taking awesome care of my 60lb pooch and my indoor cat for 3 years. My dog loves her! Whenever she has come by my house when I'm home my dog rushes to her, tail wagging and tongue lolling out. They are obvious buds! She has stayed at my house for multiple weeks at a time and when I've been out of the country. I'm never worried about my furry best friends. She sends text updates, pics and videos. I don't think you could find a more conscientious and responsible petsitter.

I needed a dog sitter for a few days on short notice. I found Melissa and she was very accomodating. She not only cared for my dog very well, but she also sent frequent updates & pictures. Melissa is very much an animal lover. It's clear that she loves what she does and enjoys providing this service. I will definitely use Melissa again.
