Patient and friendly doggie lover

Pet care experience

I'm an avid animal lover who joined Rover a little over two years ago because it seemed like the perfect opportunity to turn my passion and love for doggies into a business. I used to nanny as a teenager/young adult and would care for the pets of my clients. I also had three dogs growing up as a kid and they brought immense joy and love into my life. It is for this reason that I now have two doggies of my own. My pups are like my children and I will always make sure that yours are treated that way as well. I provide daily pictures and updates so that you know exactly how your dog's stay/walk is going. So I hope you will give me the opportunity to care for your "doggie baby!"

Melissa and Matt are so caring and loving to our Kodi. I recieved updates and pictures everyday which I love and saw how Kodi was welcomed in their pack. Sandy and Milo made him feel he belonged. I highly recommend Melissa and Matt. This is the first time we used their services but I felt like Kodi is already comfortable wih them. We will keep them whenever we need help for our Kodi. Kudos to both of you!

Melissa was great with Roxxi. Very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about canine behavior. I will definitely be contacting Melissa for future dog sitting needs.

Melissa and Matt took great care of our dog Idaho while my husband and I were out of the country for 12 days. They were caring, responsible, and very understanding of Idaho's little quirks. Melissa was extremely easy to communicate with, and sent frequent messages about how Idaho was doing, complete with lots of cute pictures. Idaho really bonded with their dog Milo, and he had such a great time playing with Milo and Sandy that I almost felt bad picking him up at the end of our trip. Idaho had a great experience with Melissa and Matt, and my husband and I felt happy that we could leave him in such good hands. We would have him stay with them again in a heartbeat.

Melissa and her boyfriend Matt were great with our fur-baby when we needed someone to watch her for a few days. We got pictures and detailed updates every day, so we felt reassured that she was in good hands. Best of all, she was pooped when we picked her up after 4 days of nonstop playing with their dog Milo. We hope to rebook for sitting needs in the future!

Information Melissa L. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know anything that I can do in order to make your dog's stay more comfortable! Does he or she have a preferred time for things such as eating, going on walks and going to sleep? How does your dog generally interact with other dogs or people? What are their favorite things to do? A special toy, tug-of-war, going to the dog park, playing fetch, belly rubs, etc? How many treats a day are they allowed to have? Are there any particular commands I should work on with them? Is your dog prone to any nippiness, furniture/shoe chewing, or potential potty accidents? Any physical ailments/injuries that I should be aware of? Can they hop onto the furniture or is that a habit you don't want encouraged? Don't worry, whatever your house rules are, they also apply here! There are many more things I could name but I should probably cut it short! :)

A typical day

I recently moved from the city to a more homey, dog friendly apartment (I.e green grass and parks) giving the pups lots of places to run around and play outside. So when your doggie comes to stay with us they would be staying in my 1 bedroom Northbrook apartment with myself, my fellow pet lover and fiancé, Matt, and our two furry bundles of joy Milo and Sandy. Between the two of us, we will be able to provide the love and attention that your pet needs. Matt has grown up around dogs his entire life. Him and Milo have a very special relationship and we recently adopted Sandy, a little over a year ago from a kill shelter in Miami. She's extremely sweet, playful and has such a goofy personality she’s always making us laugh! However, sometimes she gets scared of the strangest things and due to her being abandoned most of her life, she can be very timid at times. Whereas Milo will jump right in and be your best friend! Our home is a safe and loving environment where your dog will feel at ease. We would be spending quality time with your dog either in our cozy living room, playing at the nearby dog park, going on walks around the neighborhood and/or to the dog-friendly area at Evanston beach (depending on the weather). We're a very active family and love to be outdoors so your doggie would definitely spend plenty of time outdoors with us! Your dog would be welcome to sleep in our bed or take naps on the couch. Or we have two extra crates and plenty of blankets if that's what they're accustomed to. When we're not running around having fun, we'll make sure to find enough time for cuddles and belly rubs. And kisses too, of course!
