Pet care experience
My family got our first dog when I was eight, and another dog when I was 10. I have learned so much in those years about how to responsibly care for dogs, while making them feel comfortable and loved. One of our family dogs was diagnosed with diabetes about two years ago, so I am very comfortable giving insulin. After over 15 years, I've also become comfortable giving eye drops, pills, etc. Aside from dogs, I have had hamsters and guinea pigs and was responsible for the entirety of their care. I also worked for an exotic veterinarian for 1 year. We did not work with dogs but this position increased my confidence when it comes to working with animals in general.

Melissa has been caring for our two dogs for many years. She is reliable, consistent, and gentle, and loves our dogs as much as we do. She is attentive to their needs and never fails to give them all of the love and playtime they request. They enjoy the time they spend with her so much and light up every time they see her. One of our dogs has developed Diabetes and is becoming blind. He requires daily eye drops, a special diet, and insulin injections twice a day. Melissa made sure to educate herself on his illness and how to care for him properly. We trust her to provide all of his medical care and special needs. We are happy to recommend Melissa as a responsible and loving dog caregiver!
As Melissa's older brother, who lived with her for about 16 years, I can't say I'm unbiased. But I can also confirm that she loves our two dogs as much as any human member of our family. She's attentive to their needs for food, walks, and attention, and dutifully helps our diabetic dog Chance get his insulin (and treat!) on schedule. I would bet my life savings on her carrying that love into work with Rover, and believe she'll be an excellent, responsible caregiver.

I will give lots of attention! I understand that people use rover when they have to be gone for an extended period of time. So I feel it is important to make sure that I am giving your dog as much attention and love as possible. We have another dog in our home (a very large Lab). He is very friendly. It is important to me that if boarding, your dog gets along with other dogs for the safety of both animals!

I love to know about the kind of personality your dog has! Are they high or low energy? Are they friendly will people? Do they spook easily? I want to make sure I understand the needs of your dog! If boarding in my home, it is especially important to know if they get along with other dogs, and we have a large lab in our house. Obie is very friendly but can be high energy!
A typical day
I live in close proximity to beaches and plenty of places to walk or run! I live with two other young women who adore dogs and would undoubtedly provide extra attention and love.

Availability
I am currently available every day of the week except Tuesdays and Thursdays for dog walking and sitting but only Friday evenings and Saturday, Sunday for boarding.
